2 University of Eastern Finland, UEF The UEF is one of the largest research universities in Finland. The UEF creates new knowledge and innovations, and the university s expertise rests on the strengths of its predecessors, i.e. the University of Joensuu and the University of Kuopio. The UEF began operations on 1 January 2010.

6 A University with Three Campuses The University of Eastern Finland operates on three campuses: in Joensuu, Kuopio and Savonlinna.

7 Joensuu Campus 7,850 degree students. Education in the fields of the humanities, business studies, educational sciences, law, science, forest sciences, psychology, theology, and social sciences.

8 Kuopio Campus 6,675 degree students. Education in the fields of pharmacy, dentistry, business studies, natural sciences, medicine, health sciences, and social sciences.

9 Savonlinna Campus 828 degree students. Education in the field of educational sciences Centre for Tourism Studies.

11 Strong Scientific Approach Today and Tomorrow Research at the UEF is of a high international standard. The UEF invests in its areas of expertise in research. New multi- and cross-disciplinary research openings.

13 Research Cooperation The University of Eastern Finland engages in close research cooperation with universities, research institutes and companies in Finland and abroad. The university s research cooperation involves: collaborative research and development projects postgraduate and continuing education business and innovation activities, and joint professorships.

23 Centre for Training and Development - Aducate

24 Centre for Training and Development, Aducate Aducate offers professional continuing education, Open University education and university-level training and development services in the areas of expertise of the University of Eastern Finland. In terms of student numbers, Aducate is one of the largest university-level adult education providers in Finland.

25 International Cooperation

26 International Cooperation The university has concluded bilateral agreements of cooperation with approximately 100 universities and research centres throughout the world, especially in Europe, North America, Asia, and southern Africa. The university is involved in several international networks.

27 International Networks The university has partnership agreements with the United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP, and with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, UNITAR. The university coordinates the Finnish-Russian Cross-Border University, CBU.

28 International Mobility Annually, about 1,500 international students study at the University of Eastern Finland. The university offers a variety of international Master s and doctoral degree programmes taught in English, as well as several international non-degree programmes. Student and teaching staff exchanges with European universities are mainly realised within the Erasmus, Nordplus, FIRST and Campus Europae programmes. Student exchanges with the United States are mainly carried out within the framework of the International Student Exchange Program, ISEP, and the ASLA- Fulbright programme.
