The other time he made seven in a game was in the finals of the 76 Classic, when he was 7-for-9 Malcolm Delaney from beyond the arc... In the UNC game, seven of his eight made field goals were three-pointers... The team made a season-high 11 three-pointers at Chapel Hill, including 3-of-4 from Manny Atkins. Good Shooting Backdrop Malcolm Delaney has played three games in the Dean E. Smith Center at the University of North Carolina during his career... Malcolm Reaches Another Milestone Malcolm Delaney scored 28 points in the loss at North Carolina and with it, scored his 1,900th career point and moved past Perry Young into fourth place in career scoring at Virginia Tech... Delaney scored his 1,000th career point at Virginia Tech in the win at Campbell on Nov. 23, Green is Not Too Green When Dorenzo Hudson was forced to miss the Penn State game due to a calf injury, Erick Green made his first start of the season... Green responded by tying a career high with 15 points... He was 6-of-11 from the Erick Green field and did not commit a turnover in a then season-high 27 minutes of action Even when Hudson made a brief return to the line-up, Green got the start in the win over Mississippi State, where he scored 11 points and dished out a career-high six assists, while not committing a turnover... Allen Starts a New List With his 12 rebounds in the win over Mount St. Mary s, Jeff Allen became the only Hokie in the top 5 at Virginia Tech in career rebounding, steals and blocked shots... Allen now has 925 career rebounds, fifth on the Virginia Tech all-time list, having passed John Rivers in the win over Mount St. Mary s... Allen passed former teammate Cheick Diakite in the win over Campbell into fifth place in career blocked shots at Virginia Tech, now with 140 career blocks... Allen also has 209 career steals, good for fifth place on the Virginia Tech all-time list. 500 in the Cassell The season marks Tech s 50th season in Cassell Coliseum... The Hokies have a overall record in the Cassell, good for a.772 winning percentage... Tech was 17-2 in Cassell Coliseum last season and are 5-2 this season... Coming Next Year On Nov. 10, the Hokies announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent... C.J. Barksdale, a 6-8 forward from Danville, Va., Robert Brown, a 6-5 guard from Clermont, Fla., Dorian Finney- Smith, a 6-7 forward from Portsmouth, Va., and Marquis Rankin, a 6-1 guard from Charlotte, N.C., will join the program in the fall of This group has been chosen No. 12 nationally by ESPN.com... Barksdale, Brown and Rankin are playing this season at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.

3 Virginia Tech vs. Wake Forest Game Notes Page 3 HOKIE HOOPS On the Injury Front The Virginia Tech bench got shorter just before the holidays, as senior guard Dorenzo Hudson and sophomore forward Cadarian Raines were both ruled out for the season due to foot injuries Dorenzo Hudson... Hudson originally injured the foot last season and had difficulties with the injury during the summer and into the current season... Raines originally had surgery on his left foot last season... He reinjured the foot at the end of last season and had a second JT Thompson surgery in April, which did not heal as expected... He has undergone a variety of treatments to aid the healing process, but none have been successful... He will continue to be monitored by the Virginia Tech medical staff to determine the best course Allan Chaney of action... Raines has seen limited action this season, but Hudson is third on the team in scoring average, at 10.4 points per game... Both players are eligible for medical redshirts... Senior forward, JT Thompson, will miss the season following surgery to repair a Cadarian Raines torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee... The injury occured during the preseason... Thompson is expected to be ready to return for next season... Allan Chaney, a redshirt sophomore forward for the Hokies, has yet to be cleared to return to action following a viral inflammation of the heart... He will continue to be evaluated by medical staff... There is no timetable for his return. Stepping Up His Game In Virginia Tech s win over USC Upstate, Jeff Allen set a new season-high with 15 rebounds to go along with his 16 points Allen followed that up with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Mount St. Mary s and made it three straight double doubles in the win over Florida State... Allen now has seven double doubles this season and 35 for his career... He has scored in double figures in each of his last eight games and is averaging 15.1 points and 11.0 rebounds per game over that stretch He has recorded double doubles in five of his last seven games. Hitting the Century Mark Malcolm Delaney made his 100th career start at Virginia Tech in the win over Penn State... Delaney now has 106 career starts... Only Jeff Allen, who made his 112th career start at North Carolina, has registered more starts for the Hokies among current players... Delaney has made 117 career appearances, while Allen has made 115 career appearances... Terrell Bell has appeared in 114 career games and Dorenzo Hudson has made 102 career appearances. Another Milestone In Virginia Tech s win over Penn State, Seth Greenberg recorded his 350th victory as a collegiate head coach... His record in 21 years as a head coach is (.569). Garland Steps Up Tech freshman guard Tyrone Garland has responded well this season when asked to step up... In the win over Oklahoma State in Anaheim, Garland replaced an injured Erick Green and recorded a Tyrone Garland career-best six points in just eight minutes of action... Fast forward to the win over Penn State, Garland was asked to see increased minutes due to Dorenzo Hudson s injury and responded with a career-high nine points in 12 minutes of play... In the win over Mount St. Mary s, Garland put up career numbers, scoring a career-high 16 points in 22 minutes of action. Welcoming Back the First In conjunction with the celebration for the 50th year of Cassell Coliseum, the Virginia Tech athletics department welcomed back members of the Hokies men s basketball team for the Florida State game... These men were on the first team to play a game in Cassell Coliseum, a victory over Alabama on Jan. 3, The Hokies win over the Seminoles was the 500th Virginia Tech vicory all-time in Cassell Coliseum. Hokies in NCAA Stats As of games through Jan. 13, Jeff Allen is 27th nationally in double doubles and 33rd in rebounds per game... Malcolm Delaney is 23rd in three-point field goal percentage and 35th in points per game... Erick Green is 42nd nationally in steals per game... As a team, the Hokies are 28th in scoring defense. Assisting the Wins Entering the game against Penn State, the Hokies had dished out 15-or-more assists in a game just once in the first eight games of the season... Since then, Tech has passed out at least 15 assists in four of the six games, including a 20-assist effort in the win over Penn State and 21 assists in the win over Mount St. Mary s. Double, Double-Doubles In the win over Penn State, Terrell Bell scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Jeff Allen scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds...
