4 First, we create the database of assets. Step 1: Attach a new barcode to an item Step 2: Scan the barcode Step 3: Enter item information directly onto the scanner Step 4: Upload this data to FATS

8 How do we know if an asset is missing? Periodically Audit your inventory weekly/monthly/yearly (whatever suits your business) It is easy Just scan each item with the portable scanner. This data will be compared to what is already in the database of assets

9 Now we ll take the scanner out and scan some of the assets Scan Scan Scan Scan Scan The scanner records the asset tags Notice we have only scanned five out of our ten assets

10 Next, place the scanner in the cradle. Choose Get Scans from the menu

11 The system will walk you through the upload process When the upload is complete, you can inspect the scans before adding them to the main file.

12 Then you can run a missing asset report to instantly see what is missing! Assets 6 to 10 show up as missing because they were not scanned during this session.

13 How do I know WHERE my assets are located? Answer: Location Barcodes Place location barcodes on the doorjamb of an office, on a rack of equipment, etc. Scan the locations as you scan assets. This will update the system. Show me how

15 Now lets look at one asset You can drill down to a history for each asset.

16 The asset report now shows that the assets are in Room 102. Assets not scanned remain in Room 101

17 The Moved Asset Report shows all the assets which have been moved. New Location: Room 102 Previous Location: Room 101
