67 Managing Templates Add a new template EWB gives you the ability to apply a template to your entire site and even multiple templates throughout your website. This will ensure you maintain a consistent and professional look and feel when a user moves from one page to another. This makes an enjoyable browsing experience for your visitors. EWB is a template-powered website builder which means it depends on a template to be used for your website. It also allows for other powerful functions such as when you add a page, you can also add a navigation link at the same time. It also is a safeguard against non-technical users who are editing pages and might break the page s look and feel. There are a variety of ways to find the perfect template for your website: Option 1 EWB website builder is packaged with some templates to choose from. Option 2 - You can visit the TULibraryUT to download a template ready to plug into your website. Option 3 You can build your own templates using TUEwisoft Template MakerUT. HTML and CSS is required. Option 4 You can do a Google search for "free website template" and download one you that like. Then you can convert the template using TUEwisoft Template MakerUT. Option 5 You can TUhire a web designerut to either build you a template from scratch (per your specifications) or build you a template based on a downloaded template you found on the web. They may even help guide you through the entire web building process. 1. To add a template to your website select the Templates menu and select Add Template. You can also click the Template button in the toolbar. 2. Browse your computer to where the template (tpl, ewt) file is, select it and click Open. 61

71 Managing Templates All the trial premium website templates from the Library will download. To select a template go to TUSelect or change templateut Using an external HTML editor Ewisoft Website Builder has a great internal editor but if you are more comfortable using a different editor to edit your pages you can use almost any HTML editor to edit your pages including popular programs like Microsoft Word, Dreamweaver and FrontPage. TNote: It is not possible for us to test every HTML editor available in the market so please keep that in mind should you come across an unexpected error. We cannot fix errors that happen as a result of using your external editor.t If you do not have an specialized HTML editor, you can use Microsoft Word to edit your pages. You can utilize most of Microsoft Word's powerful formatting capabilities and functions to edit your pages. TNote: Your own copy of Microsoft Word is required to be installed on your computer before you can use it with Ewisoft Website Builder.T 1. From the View menu, select Select default editor. 2. You can select either Internal Editor, Microsoft Word or choose another editor program. 3. Click OK. 65

72 Printed Documentation 4. If you chose Let me choose the editor program, click Browse to locate your program and click OK. 6. You should see highlighted areas around the editable areas you wish to edit. If you mouse over an editable area, just click to edit it. 66

73 Managing Templates 7. Click the area you would like to edit and your external editor will open the page in another window. 8. Make your changes. When you are finished your changes, click the Save button in your external editor 9. You can either keep your external editor open and flip back to Ewisoft Website Builder or you can close your external editor window. TNote: if you didn't click the Save button, you will be prompted to save your changes.t Advanced styles, update template colors and editable regions Each template has styles and editable regions. Editable regions are places where you can edit the content in it -- which is separate to the actual page content that you put into your pages. Depending on the template, you can edit background colors, fonts, hovered colors, pictures, border colors, background images and more. What we mean by "depending" is that each template is designed differently than another, also, different designers use different style names. If the template was built with the intention of changing a color or font, then you will be able to edit that part of the template. This example below is using template number vg010 from our template TULibraryUT. 67
