AgeStats Worldwide the new database--provides access to statistical data that compare the situation of older adults across countries or regions around a variety of issues, such as demography, 2

The Consumer Voice The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (formerly NCCNHR) provides information and leadership on federal and state regulatory and legislative policy development and models and strategies to improve quality of care and quality of life for consumers of long-term health care services. DrugWatch.com Aims to educate the public about prescription and over-the-counter medications, drug recalls, medication interactions, and current developments in the medical field. Theay are reviewed and certified by the Health On the Net (HON) Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation that works to preserve the accuracy and trustworthiness of Web-based medical information. 3
4 ElderWeb A sourcebook of organizations that deal with a wide variety of gerontological issues. Highlights include a thorough list of undergraduate and graduate programs in geriatrics, as well as, links to organizations who specialize in aging healthcare. An excellent resource for those seeking specific information on aging issues. FirstGov for Seniors A government website that contains resources for senior citizens. The information available includes benefits available for grandparents raising children, resources to deal with housing issues, details about consumer protection for the aging, and more. Healthline Healthline provides a comprehensive overview of over 1000 health conditions for individuals and/or their loved ones. Information is reviewed for medical accuracy by an MD. Health and Age A great resource for non-health professionals to find answers to their aging medical questions. With an extremely user-friendly interface, the Novartis Foundation for Gerontology website, is a great tool for quick answers. Novartis also offers a health professionals website as well, with a link at the bottom of the main page. 4
5 Health Compass Sponsored by the non-profit American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) and the Merck Institute of Aging and Health (MIAH), is a free self-guided learning program designed to help you locate and better understand information on aging and health. The American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) The main page for the The American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR), a national non-profit organization whose mission is to support and advance healthy aging through biomedical research. An excellent resource for medical professionals and researchers Latino Gerontological Center (Centro Gerontologico Latino) A non-profit organization established in 1991, in order to improve the lives of Latino seniors through advocacy and education. With sites in both English and Spanish the LCA website is a strong source of information pertaining to the aging Latino community. LeadingAge Center for Applied Research An independent research organization dedicated to bridging the worlds of policy, practice and research to advance the development and diffusion of high-quality aging and long-term care services and supports. Medicare Rights Center The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and 5
6 advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives. Their website provides answers for some of the most common Medicare questions. MEDLINEplus: Seniors' Health Sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, this site provides information on physicians, nutrition, drug trials and caregiver support for seniors. Mesothelioma Center Seventy-five percent of all mesothelioma patients are seniors. After a person is exposed to asbestos, symptoms of mesothelioma can take as long as 50 years to arise. The goal at the Mesothelioma Center is to offer a one-stop resource on all asbestos and mesothelioma-related issues ranging from occupational exposure to mesothelioma clinical trials. Mortgage Guide for Seniors The guide was prepared as a resource to help seniors of all ages to understand some of the options open to them and precautions that they should take when it comes to owning a home, downsizing, paying a mortgage, taking out a reverse mortgage, and selling property. MySeniorCare.com An online community for information about senior housing, home care, and health. National Asian Pacific Center on Aging The National Asian Pacific Center on Aging's mission is to serve as the nation's leading advocacy organization committed to the dignity, well-being, and quality of life of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in their senior years. Their programs page provides useful information for AAPI seniors 6
7 looking for volunteering opportunities, or who wish to participate in the work of government agencies such as the EPA. National Caucus and Center on Black Aged NCBA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the dignity and enhancing the lives of low income elderly African Americans. As one of the largest minority focused organizations in the United States, NCBA addresses the needs of its constituency in the areas of health, affordable housing and employment. NCBA has a rich history of providing the African American aging community with information about employment opportunities and healthcare news. National Hispanic Council on Aging The National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA) is the nation s premier constituency-based organization that advocates, celebrates, and enhances the quality of life for Hispanic older adults, their families, and their communities. Their website offers an excellent e-learning center that has several courses in its archives on aging health. National Indian Council on Aging The National Indian Council On Aging, Inc. (NICOA), a non-profit organization, was founded in 1976 by members of the National Tribal Chairmen s Association that called for a national organization to advocate for improved, comprehensive health and social services to American Indian and Alaska Native Elders. The NICOA website provides extensive information on aging benefits, and health issues, as well as advocacy updates and events. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) This site offers links to a wider range of NIH's valuable resources, features colorful images to highlight an intriguing range of useful features, and gives readers the chance to test their health knowledge. Visitors can access the popular "A to Z" listing of health topics, browse topics by body location/systems, or use the main "Search" box. Favorite health databases, such as Clinical Trials, MEDLINEplus, and PubMed, remain one click away. The newly expanded NIH health information Web site has information geared for the whole family, including kids, teens, parents, and seniors. Educators, clinicians, and researchers will continue to find the site a valuable resource of tools and guidelines. 7
8 National Long Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center The NORC provides support, technical assistance and training to the 53 State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs and their statewide networks of almost 600 regional (local) programs. The Center's objectives are to enhance the skills, knowledge,and management capacity of the State programs to enable them to handle residents' complaints and represent resident interests. Nursing Home Abuse Nursing Home Abuse was founded by the National Association to Stop Nursing Home Abuse (NASNHA), an NGO. NursingHomeAbuse.net exists to raise awareness of the nursing home abuse epidemic, educate the public about its causes, help residents and families prevent abuse, and help victims cope with the consequences of nursing home abuse. Pressureulcer.net Pressureulcer.net was created to act as a reliable resource for members of the public wishing to educate themselves about pressure ulcers, their types, causes, treatment, prevention, and the remedies available to those suffering. RehabInfo.net Rehabinfo.net's mission is to edcuate visitors through research-based, expert written content. It strives to be the best resource to address common issues in the journey to treatment. Retirement Living Information Center RetirementLiving.com, operated by the Retirement Living Information Center, is a convenient, easy-touse resource designed to assist individuals in planning and making decisions about their retirement. The information offered is of particular value when deciding whether or not to move, and if so, finding the right location, lifestyle and housing opportunity. 8
9 SeniorLaw SeniorLAW provides free legal assistance to Milwaukee County residents who are 60 and older. Benefit specialists provide legal information and attorneys provide representation in appropriate court cases. Their website also provides information on general legal issues that face most of today s aging community. SeniorNavigator A wonderful resources for the aging community of Virginia. This website provides not only information about transportation for the aging, but information about local long term care facilities and health services. SeniorNet SeniorNet's mission is to provide older adults education for and access to computer technologies to enhance their lives and enable them to share their knowledge and wisdom. Their online learning center boasts not only numerous successes, but a low enrollment cost. This site is a valuable tool for anyone 50 or older to learn more about computers and information technology. SeniorResource.com A comprehensive website in regards to seniors and the challenges they face as they age. Housing, assisted living, and retirement issues are all prominent. It s most useful page, Resources by State, allows seniors all across the country to learn about how their local governments and help them live happy lives. SeniorSite A general information site that allows seniors, their caregivers, and the public alike to learn more about the issues facing the elderly. Some of their unique pages have resources for Veterans of World War II and Holocaust Survivors. 9
10 SeniorSites Senior Sites is the most comprehensive web source of non-profit housing and services for seniors. Staying Young-Discovery Health-Aging A Discovery Channel sponsored website that pulls together articles on nutrition and aging. Articles deals with some of the most common foods and drinks, as well as provide seniors strategies on how to eat well and get exercise. 10
