3 1. Introduction 1.1. American Electric Power Service Corporation (AEPSC) and (Company, AEP Ohio) are subsidiaries of American Electric Power Company, Inc. (AEP). AEPSC, on behalf of, is administering this Request of Information (RFI) regarding the status of solar energy projects that are under development in Ohio by companies that have an interest in participating in a potential future Request for Proposals (RFP) process for obtaining solar energy resources via long-term power purchase agreements. In accordance with an Order issued on March 31, 2016 by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO, Commission) in Case No EL-RDR, a Joint Stipulation and Recommendation ( Stipulation )was approved with certain conditions and requirements as set forth in the Order., as part of the Stipulation is committed to propose new renewable projects in the state totaling 500 MW from wind energy resources and 400 MW from solar energy resources. AEP affiliates will have the right to initially own up to 50% of such projects. Renewable energy projects proposed are and will be subject to separate application by to and approval by the Commission. In addition, the adopted Stipulation also indicates that preference will be given to solar projects that: are sited in Appalachian Ohio, create permanent manufacturing jobs in Appalachian Ohio, and commit to hiring Ohio military veterans. Accordingly, this RFI will be seeking information from Respondents on how they would plan to meet these goals This inquiry is not a commitment to purchase and shall not bind the Company or any affiliates of the Company in any manner. Purpose and Scope The purpose of this Request for Information is to solicit information from companies who have an interest in participating in a future Request for Proposals ( RFP) for obtaining Solar Energy Resources. 3. Schedule and Procedure The following schedule and deadlines apply to this RFI. reserves the right to revise this schedule at any time and at its sole discretion. The Respondent is requested to provide the following background information on their company and experience Is Respondent a PJM member? If not, is Respondent willing to become a PJM member? 4.2. Provide a summary of the solar projects that Respondent is or has successfully developed and completed in the United States or Canada Provide summary financial information of Respondent for most recent fiscal year. 5. Summary of Requested Information for Solar Projects under Development The Respondent and their proposed solar renewable energy project is requested to provide the information as part of this RFI process as specified in more detail in Appendix A (RFI Form). The following are key areas that must be detailed in the RFI Form Confirm solar project under development is located in or to be located in the state of Ohio. Page 4
