1 The Dean of the Faculty of Design and Art in view of the art. 2 of the Ministerial Decree of 21 st May 1998, n. 242; in view of the Regulation Governing Professors with a contract of limited duration of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, approved with the deliberations of the Founding Council of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano of 30 th November 1999, n. 78, and of 31 st January 2002, n. 209; in view of the deliberation of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Design and Art dated n. 57/2010; announces that at the Faculty of Design and Art there is the following teaching post to be assigned for the academic year by means of service contract: Bachelor in Design and Art Major in Design Ref. BAD-15 Course: Typography and Graphics Sector: ICAR/17 Teaching language: German; Italian; English Number of hours: 60 hours teaching + 40 hours tutoring Semester: summer semester 2011 Days of teaching activity: Thursday, Friday or Saturday Description: The subject conveys practice and theory of Typography and Graphics in a basic, experimental and applied way, with focus on typography and its technical, cultural and aesthetical conditions. 1. Validity of the ranking list The appointment is conferred for the duration of an academic year and may be renewed yearly up to the limit of 5 years. The activation in the didactic offer of the degree/master course of the subject which the appointment refers to and a positive assessment of the year s teaching activities are the indispensable prerequisites for a renewal of the contract. On the basis of the applications presented, a ranking list in order of merit is drawn up to be consulted, when the occasion arises, during the course of the academic year Should a candidate turn down an appointment he/she is excluded from the ranking list for the remaining period of its validity. The appointment will not be conferred to the first eligible candidate on the ranking list if it can be assigned to a professor or researcher who is nominated for tenure of the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano after the publication of this announcement and before the stipulation of the contract with the eligible candidate of the ranking list. 1/5

2 Once the contract for project work has been signed and before the beginning of each semester, respecting the 30-working day period of notice, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano reserves the right to withdraw from the contract should the teaching course(s) granted to the lecturer be assigned to a professor or researcher who is nominated for tenure of the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano after the stipulation of this contract. In case of premature termination of the contract the professor under contract will not have any claims for indemnity. 2. Procedures for presenting the applications The application may be drawn up according to the model of attachment A and must be handed in to the following address given below by and not later than the deadline of : Free University of Bozen-Bolzano Faculty of Design and Art to the attention of: Ms. Fabia Dattilo Ref. number: BAD-15 Piazza Università 1/P.O. Box 276 I Bozen-Bolzano The date of receipt in the Faculty Administration (stamp) is decisive in determining acceptance of the application. The applications (see attachment A ) may be presented in the following ways: 1) handing in the application personally (office hours of the Faculty Administration of Faculty of Design and Art: Monday - Friday from 09:00 to 12:00; Tuesday and Thursday also from 14:00 to 16:00); 2) sending the application by mail; 3) sending the application by to fabia.dattilo@unibz.it (pdf-format; for technical reasons not bigger than 6 MB). In cases n. 2) and 3) a copy of a document of identity (identity card, passport, driving licence) must be attached to the application, otherwise the candidate will be excluded from the present selection procedures. The University accepts no responsibility for applications that fail to reach their destination owing to third party mistakes or technical flaws that prevent their arrival. The University accepts no responsibility for cases in which the candidates are untraceable or when the communications are undeliverable because of imprecise indications of the address, or belated or lack of notification on the part of the candidate regarding a change of the address declared in the application. The University accepts no responsibility for mail going astray whether third parties are to blame, or whether this is attributable to mishaps, or to force majeure and which, in any case, is in no wise ascribable to the University. It accepts no blame when the return delivery slip indicating receipt of the application, of documents or of communications relating to the selection procedures fails to arrive. If the candidate s address differs from that of his/her place of residence, again the University is exempt from responsibility should a registered letter with notification of receipt arriving at the place which the candidate had specified as his address during the period of selection, fail to reach him/her. 3. Requirements for competing in the selection procedures Candidates are eligible for selection if they are in possession of an Italian university degree or equivalent title or proven professional or scientific qualifications related to the subject for which they are sending an application. Applications should be accompanied by a detailed and structured curriculum vitae (it is recommended to structure the CV following the attachment B), as well as copies of the mentioned certificates and a detailed documentation (portfolio) about the own works. This documentation can only be considered, if 2/5

3 it is handed in as hardcopy form or in pdf-format. Videos or works with moving images must be saved on digital data media in current formats suitable for Apple Macintosh. If the portfolio contains works created together with others, the applicant must clearly mark his contribution. 4. Selection Candidates will be assessed on their presented application papers (titles and portfolio) as well as on a colloquium with the selection committee. 5. Evaluation titles and criteria 5.1. Studies/qualification of the candidate The qualifications A.) F.) are not totaled but assigned one-time. A.) 3 points will be given for a first-level university degree (BA) in the field of design or fine arts. B.) A maximum of 3 points can be given for diplomas in design or fine arts obtained from a private post-secondary design institute. C.) A maximum of 3 points can be given for a proven 5-year-long work experience, including professional qualification and training in the tendered field. D.) 3 to 5 points can be given for four/five year degree in the field of design or fine arts (laurea vecchio ordinamento). E.) 5 points will be given for a master degree (MA) in the field of design or art. F.) 6 to 8 points can be given for a university additional qualification. The first qualification needs to be a MA or a four/five year degree in the field of design or fine arts. Examples are: MA plus BA, MA plus Master Universitario di II livello, MA plus PhD bzw. dottorato di ricerca. 2 additional points can be given if one of the diplomas mentioned above was obtained from an institute/university whose theoretical and didactic profile is similar to the one of the Faculty of Design and Art of the FUB. Max. points: Candidate s design projects in the field of Typography and Graphics More points are given if the projects are compatible with the theoretical and didactic profile of the Faculty of Design and Art of the FUB (for instance.: interdisciplinary, experimental). Only the projects presented in the candidate s portfolio will be taken into consideration. Max. points: Candidate s publications in the field of Typography and Graphics Only the publications listed by the candidate in his/her application will be taken into consideration. Max. points: Competitions won and participation in design exhibitions Only the competitions and exhibitions listed by the candidate in his/her application will be taken into consideration. Max. points: Teaching experience in the field of design More points are given if the teaching experience was gathered in institutes whose theoretical and didactic profile is similar to the one of the Faculty of Design and Art of the FUB. Only the courses listed by the candidate in his/her application will be taken into consideration. 3/5

4 Max. points: 10 points. Total amount of points: Colloquium Only those candidates who reach 30 of 50 possible points after the evaluation of the application documents are admitted to the colloquium. The colloquium consists in a discussion with the candidate about the presented documentation and his/her presentation of the teaching concept. Max. points: Rank list At the end of the selection procedure, a rank list of the suitable candidates is made by the selection committee. Minimum amount of points in order to be included into the rank list: 10 points out of 20 possible points. 6. Why applications will be rejected 1) the applications are not signed by the candidate 2) the applications are not consigned by the final deadline indicated in the notice of selection 3) the applications are sent in by mail or (for technical reasons not bigger than 6 MB) without an attached copy of a document of identity (identity card, passport, driving licence) 4) the applications are sent in by candidates who are not in possession of the requirements needed to participate in this selection procedure 5) the applications that are presented differently from the procedures listed in point 2 of this tender. 7. Publication of the ranking list The deliberation of the Faculty Council concerning the approval of the ranking list of eligible candidates is put up on the official notice board of the Faculty together with the ranking list itself (piazza Università, Bozen-Bolzano). Furthermore, the ranking list of eligible candidates, together with the number and the date of the above-mentioned deliberation of the Faculty Council is published on the web site of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (under vacant positions ). 8. Notifying the candidates of the conclusion of the selection The publication of the ranking list together with the number and the date of the corresponding deliberation of the Faculty Council, as in point 7 of the present selection procedure, replaces the notification sent to the individual candidates. 9. Legal measures Within 60 days of the publishing of that same administrative measure on the official notice board of the Faculty of Design and Art as in point 7 of the present selection procedure, a petition can be lodged against that same administrative measure with the Regional Administrative Court of Law of Bozen- Bolzano. 10. Regulations concerning the protection of personal data With reference to the regulations as in the legislative decree of 30th June 2003, n. 196, Code regarding the protection of personal data, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, as holder of the data regarding the present selection, notifies that the data contained in the applications are processed 4/5

5 digitally solely for the purpose of the selection procedures and that the paper work of the relative acts is filed in the archives. The candidates enjoy the rights as in article 7 of the legislative decree quoted above, among which figure the right to access the data that concern them, as well as other complementary rights among which the right to update, rectify, complete or cancel data that are erroneous, incomplete or collected in terms that do not comply with the law. With legitimate motives they may also raise opposition to the processing of the above mentioned data. 11.
