Introduction Fundación IBERDROLA wishes to reinforce its contribution to improving the quality of life of the people in territories and countries in which it operates, and with this aim carries out a social project through the Foundation that intends to efficiently respond to fundamental social demands, making use of the business strengths and capabilities of IBERDROLA. Our society finds itself immersed in a deep crisis with various forms and consequences, not only economic, which mean that we face unprecedented challenges. Amongst these stands out the urgent need to face up to the deterioration of the environment and climate change which require, more than ever before, a change in our economic models and, specifically, our energy model. Based on the premise that transforming these models requires leaders and professionals with the best abilities and the best possible level of training, one of the main areas of action of Fundación IBERDROLA is the creation and transmission of knowledge for the development and progress towards a sustainable energy model that efficiently meets the energy needs of citizens and contributes to the protection of the environment. To this end, Fundación IBERDROLA presents its 3rd Call for Energy and the Environment Postgraduate studies in order to contribute to excellence in training in the energy field, with special emphasis on renewable energy, the protection of the environment and climate change, as well as the efficiency of the energy system. 2. Announcement Fundación IBERDROLA announces new scholarships for the academic year for master's studies in Spain in the following areas of knowledge: Renewable energy Sustainable energy system Environment and biodiversity Clean combustion technologies, emissions management Energy efficiency Energy storage Electric vehicle Smart distribution networks The announcement period opens on the day of its publication and ends on 29 February rd Call for Energy and the Environment Postgraduate studies in Spain

3 3. Applicant requirements The scholarships from Fundación IBERDROLA are intended for students of Spanish, British or US nationality. At the time of submitting their application, candidates must hold a recognised university degree. Applications claiming diploma courses and technical engineering or technical architecture studies will not be accepted, unless those studies have been adapted to the level of a university degree through the recognition of credits or the passing of a bridge or adaptation programme recognised by ANECA. Students in the final year of their undergraduate studies in the academic year may also apply. In this case, the award of the scholarship will be conditional upon their obtaining a university degree in June/July 2012 with the same or better mark that they had at the time of the announcement. Knowledge of languages: the candidates must prove having an excellent knowledge of English and Spanish by submitting a certificate of recognised prestige if these are not their native languages. Valid English certificates are: 1. Cambridge University: First Certificate or higher. 2. IELTS (minimum grade: 5). 3. TOEFL (minimum grade: 61 in Internet based, 173 in computer based or 500 in paper based). 4. Higher cycle aptitude certificate (old syllabus) or advanced level certificate B2 (new syllabus), completed and passed, from official language schools. 5. Diplomas or certificates issued by university language schools, as proof of having completed and passed level B2 (or higher) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Mobility: special consideration will be given to applicants wishing to study in a different academic institution and place from where they obtained their degree. Excellence: special consideration will be given to programmes included in regional or international excellence campuses. Applicants may not receive any remuneration or wages or be in receipt of any grant, financial aid or other award of a similar nature from institutions and public or private foundations during the period that the grant is awarded for. 4. Documentation To be eligible for the Scholardship, the interested party must fill in the application form available on the energy sustainability activity site of the Fundación IBERDROLA website at before 29 February 2012, and include the following documentation, which must be numbered as follows: 3 3rd Call for Energy and the Environment Postgraduate studies in Spain

4 Document 1. Photocopy of the national ID card or passport Document 2. Applicant's CV, with a recent photograph. Document 3. If the applicant has completed his/her higher education, a photocopy of the university degree or a receipt proving that the certificate has been requested, as well as photocopies of other qualifications obtained by the applicant. Document 4. Photocopy of the student's records detailing all the subjects and the average grade for all the degrees and diplomas listed on the form. Document 5. Two original reference letters from university professors or other relevant people who have maintained academic contact with the applicant. Document 6. Contract or employment record accounting for the applicant's professional experience, if any. Document 7. A certificate of language competence. As specified in Section 3 of this document. If the applicant successfully passes the selection process, he/she may be required to submit the originals, or certified copies, of these documents to Fundación IBERDROLA. 5. Selection process Shortlist The selection process will include a first shortlist of candidates, taking into account their academic qualifications, CV, geographical mobility, proven level of English or Spanish, interest of their study project and reference letters. Fundación IBERDROLA may require the collaboration of the relevant syllabus director during this shortlisting process. Fundación IBERDROLA will publish the list of shortlisted candidates on its website on 19 March Personal interview If the shortlisting process is passed, the Fundación IBERDROLA selection committee may arrange a personal or telephone interview with the candidate in the months of April and May 2012 in order to assess his/her personal conditions, education and motivation. If attending the interview entails travel and/or accommodation costs of more than 15, the candidates may ask for compensation of up to 100 for travel expenses in mainland Spain, subject to cost justification. This amount may be increased to 150 in the case of travel from outside mainland Spain. This announcement may be declared void for all or part of the grants on offer where the selection committee or the syllabus director proposes so to Fundación IBERDROLA. 4 3rd Call for Energy and the Environment Postgraduate studies in Spain

5 6. Candidate nomination Once the interviews have been conducted, the selection committee will propose the list of selected candidates. Fundación IBERDROLA will take the final decision on the candidates finally accepted. The final list of candidates and a list of substitutes will be published in the energy sustainability activity section of the Fundación IBERDROLA website ( on 15 June The list of candidates approved by Fundación IBERDROLA is final. Fundación IBERDROLA will not provide any information on the applications that have been rejected. The final nomination of candidates is subject to the following conditions being met: 1. Acceptance of the Scholardship by depositing the amount of 200 euros in the bank account that Fundación IBERDROLA will make public together with the list of candidates before 20 June 2012, specifying the name and surnames as the reason for the transfer. This amount will be refunded to the grant holders together with the first monthly payment. If a beneficiary waives the grant after depositing the 200 euros, this amount will be used to cover the expenses caused by the application process and any damage that may arise, and will not be refunded. 2. Submission to Fundación IBERDROLA before 9 July 2012 of a certification of enrolment application or final admission to study at the chosen university. If they are not admitted, the candidates will lose their right to the grant. 3. Submission by final-year students of the official certification showing that they have obtained the corresponding degree. Failure to complete the studies will lead to cancellation of the grant. 7. Financial contribution The Scholardship will cover the following: Cost of enrolment, with no limit 1. 1 The Foundation's obligation to pay for this item will arise upon submission of a valid receipt showing that the grant recipient has deposited the amount with the university, and another receipt issued by the bank where such payment is made. Fundación Iberdrola will in no event make the payment directly to the university, unless it expressly informs the grant recipient directly. 6 Contribution of 10,800 euros payable monthly over a period of 9 months, during the first ten (10) calendar days of the month. Payment of this monthly allowance will begin in October 2012 and end in June For those programmes going beyond one academic course, an extension may be granted the request for which must be submitted with written confirmation of said extension to Fundación IBERDROLA conditional on having obtained all the credits for the first year and on their assessment by the relevant evaluation committee. 8. Scholardship management Scholardship are managed by Fundación IBERDROLA. The Scholardship recipient must fulfil the following obligations: 1. In the event that Fundación IBERDROLA organises a grant award ceremony, to personally receive the grant on the day and at the place notified to the grant recipient. If the applicant, due to justified causes, cannot receive the grant in person, he/she must notify the Foundation, which may name a representative. 2. Carry out the planned studies according to the submitted application. 3. Upon completion of the studies, the grant recipient must answer a questionnaire provided by the Foundation and send the results of the completed studies. 4. The Scholardship recipients must inform Fundación IBERDROLA of their place of residence and destination immediately after their arrival. Furthermore, they must inform of any change of address or over the period of time that the grant is awarded. 5. If any work resulting from the studies is published, the author must state his/her status as a grant recipient of Fundación IBERDROLA. 6. At the request of Fundación IBERDROLA, the candidate must prove, with originals or certified copies of the documents, the necessary information for the selection process sent as either photocopies or electronic files. Furthermore, Fundación IBERDROLA may ask for certification of any data mentioned in the candidate's CV. 7. If the recipient waives the grant during the first six months, he/she must refund all the monthly payments and associated financial aid received so far to Fundación IBERDROLA. 8. If the Scholardship recipient does not fulfil those obligations or any other obligation included in the grant's conditions Fundación IBERDROLA reserves the right to act as it deems appropriate, including demanding a refund of any such monies paid out. 2 Where applicable, the corresponding personal income tax withholding will be applied. 6 3rd Call for Energy and the Environment Postgraduate studies in Spain

Other conditions Pursuant to the Spanish Personal Data Protection Act, any personal data included in the Scholardship application and in the attached documentation, including any images taken during the award ceremony, will be added to a file owned by Fundación IBERDROLA, with registered address at C/ Arequipa, 1-4ª, Madrid The purpose of the file is to manage the Scholardship being applied for and publicize the Grant Programme. The applicant is entitled to access, change, cancel and challenge such information in accordance with current legislation by sending a request in writing, including a copy of his/her identity card or passport, to Fundación IBERDROLA (Ref. LOPD), C/ Arequipa, 1-4ª, Madrid Scholardship awardees consent to their names being published on the Foundation's website or Annual Report by Fundación IBERDROLA. The applicant agrees to accept the decision of Fundación IBERDROLA, which may not be revoked at the request of the applicants. Submission of the application involves the acceptance and fulfilment, without reservation and exception, of all the conditions and requirements of the Scholardship announcement. 7 3rd Call for Energy and the Environment Postgraduate studies in Spain
