2 2014. All Rights Reserved. What is Lifeline? Over 56 Million Americans Qualify for REE Lifeline Service! Telecommunications service keeps people connected to vital parts of their lives, from family and friends to work to doctors, police, and fire fighters. or some people, though, the costs of service can be too high. To keep all Americans connected, telecommunications companies can get support from the Lifeline Program. Low-income consumers can receive discounts on initiating and maintaining telecommunications services. Carrying out a policy in existence since 1985, the Lifeline Program is designed to ensure that quality telecommunications services are available to eligible consumers at just, reasonable, and affordable rates. The Lifeline Program is funded by the Universal Service und (US) which is funded by contributions from all interstate telecommunication Carriers. In 2005 the Program was expanded to include wireless services which ushered in the current era of Lifeline services - where eligible Consumers receive, on average, 250 minutes of Talk or TXT on a phone provided by the carrier at no cost. Approximately 2,000 telecommunications companies provide these discounts. Consumers can apply for these discounts through their telecommunications company or through Independent Agents like yourself. Who Qualifies for Lifeline? Recipients of Any of The ollowing Programs Qualify for Lifeline! All Applicants are Screened Against the National Lifeline Accountability Database (NLAD) to Ensure that Only One (1) Benefit is Provided per Eligible Household. Applicants ound to be Already Receiving a Lifeline Benefit will be Rejected Using a Laptop or an Approved Tablet Device: Enter the Applicant s Information into the CGM Enrollment System. Verify the Identity of the Applicant: Ask for the Applicant s Photo ID and Visually Ensure the ID Matches the Applicant. Then Take a Picture of the Photo ID Using Your Tablet or WebCam. Verify the Eligibililty of the Applicant: Now, Sit Back and Collect Your Commission! Ask for the Applicant s Benefits Card or Benefits Letter and Visually Ensure the Name Matches the Photo ID of the Applicant. Then Take a Picture of the Eligibility Document Using Your Tablet or WebCam.
