12 What is the Oregon University D Rule? All D s in core academic coursework must be recovered* before applying to an Oregon University. *See counselor regarding credit recovery options! What is the California University (UC and Cal State) Art Requirement? Must complete full year (2 semesters) of fine/performing art in same discipline. Do I need letters of rec for all colleges? You do not need letters of rec for public colleges. Most private colleges require letters of rec from teachers and MUST have letters of rec from your high school counselor. Please talk to your counselor about this.

13 Early Decision vs. Early Action: Be cautious when looking at these terms. Make sure to talk to your counselor early in your senior year to talk about these options and whether they apply to you or not. Some of these are binding and require that you meet with your counselor to discuss. Also deadlines are earlier. For these options, the application deadlines range from Nov 1. Dec. 15. That means that you would have to start your application process sooner than later. Typical Timeline for application process: 11 th grade Spring take SAT s or ACT s (subject tests too if needed for some schools) 12 th grade Fall start applications, request transcripts 12 th grade Fall/Winter/Spring do scholarship apps After Jan 1 st of Senior year parents fill out FAFSA

16 Start with conversation remember the people listed previously? Review what you decided regarding location, student body, admissions, etc. Utilize college search books and apps. Read college reviews in books, newspapers, and online. College visits WLHS has many school visits in the Fall during lunch time. Dates are posted online!
