2 Kazakhtelecom JSC is one of the largest telecommunication companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan and a member of the Thirty Corporate Leaders of Kazakhstan state program. The headquarters of the company are located in Astana and Almaty, and the company has affiliates in all regions of the republic. Kazakhtelecom provides such services as telephony, broadband Web access, IP TV, hosting, SIP telephony, videoconferencing, telegraph, intelligent communication, and so on. telecom.kz Background Kazakhtelecom suffered from the lack of a single approach to the generation of analytical reporting and a high share of manual work in report preparation. Due to the complicated and time-consuming process of uploading reports and the insufficient functionality of available software, our task was to find an up-to-date solution for these problems. Our chief driving factor was Kazakhtelecom s need for a single tool to prepare comprehensive analytical reporting. We analyzed the market and chose the BiznEx Company to be the project s executor. BiznEx is one of our Kazakhstan partners. The result was the management reporting system, which generates scheduled and custom or OLAP reports online for real-time data analysis. This solution is based on the powerful and flexible tools of Prognoz Platform. Description The structure of the system includes the following functional modules: Sales. This module is designed to monitor and control the sales funnel for potential deals, manage the company s commercial activities, and analyze planned versus actual performance. On the whole, the system s 2

3 reports enable users to monitor the life cycle of potential deals, make timely adjustments of at-risk deals, and identify and analyze deal stages and the length of each stage. The set of reports on commercial activities is designed to analyze cash inflow and outflow of the Corporate Sales Department. Technological processes. This module includes tools to automate all scheduled reporting of the company s technological subdivisions. The module provides OLAP capabilities for customizing reports upon request from management as well as capabilities to evaluate work by the following criteria: 3

5 The project was implemented within a seven-month period, including the development of technical specifications and the preparation of personnel training materials. The system has been introduced in the Corporate Sales Department of Kazakhtelecom. About twenty employees of the company s Almaty affiliate utilize the system and form centralized reporting for sixteen regional subdivisions of the Corporate Sales Department. 5

6 Proven results The implemented solution yielded the following quantifiable outcomes: Created a single reporting system with unified standardized forms Automated over forty types of reporting documents Provided the capability to customize reports depending on 6

7 the particular requirements for different kinds of information Enabled users to decode aggregated data in one click Introduced a tool for any employee to generate online reporting Provided an intuitive interface for highspeed operation, which enables users to obtain the necessary data on time after a negligible training period Provided a toolkit for multidimensional analysis through OLAP cubes, the creation of interactive charts, and the portability of any system object to standard business software, including Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat Automated all system process and provided the capability for individual users to generate all necessary reports without outside assistance or reference 7
