OVERVIEW THE DU GROUP HARDWARE SOFTWARE PHYSICS CONCLUSION
A glance at Delhi University (DU) Established in 1922, DU is the premier university of the country and is known for its high standards in teaching and research and attracts eminent scholars to its faculty. At present, there are 16 faculties, 86 academic departments and 77 colleges and 5 other recognised institutes spread all over the city, with about 3,90,000 students. DU has one of the largest number of Centres of Advanced Studies recognized by the UGC.
A glance at Delhi University The University has 15 libraries in addition to the libraries in the Colleges. The University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) has a number of sophisticated research instruments which are used by several departments of the University and by other institutions in Delhi and its neighbourhood. The University has fibre-optic networks on the North and South Campuses.
THE DU GROUP Started in 1970s, DU group participated in International Collaborations like E706 and is in DZERO (4 students got PhD) Emulsion/Bubble Chamber Experiments (16 PhD) Current strength in the CMS Experiment 7 Faculty Members 15 Ph.D. Students + More to join
HARDWARE DU & BARC, Mumbai- Responsibility to fabricate 1000 Si Microstrip detectors for Preshower Detector INFRASTRUCTURE CLEAN ROOM-Class 1000 Two laminar flow tables class 100 I-V, C-V System (Keithley based) Measurement setup - KEITHLEY-237, KEITHLEY-590, KEITHLEY-2410 & Probe Station
HARDWARE Si Detector for Preshower detector for CMS The development of Si detectors with the desired characteristics was achieved in two phases. Simulation For extracting Process Parameters and Device Characterization. Measurement set ups - Current-Voltage (I-V) and Capacitance-Voltage (C-V). (12 Papers, 2 CMS Notes, 5 PhDs)
HARDWARE Process Simulation : TSUPREM-4 To develop a robust and reproducible fabrication technology, the process simulation was carried out using two dimensional process simulator, T- SUPREM IV and was optimized for annealing temperature, ion-implantation dose and annealing time for the CMS detectors. Device Simulation : TMA MEDICI A complete analysis of the effect of various physical and geometrical parameters on these structures was performed with two-dimensional device simulator, TMA-MEDICI for optimization purposes.
HARDWARE Keithley Measurement setup was installed by DU group at BEL, Bangalore to carry out measurements. A total of 1000 detectors was fabricated at BEL and delivered to CERN which met their specifications.
TIER-3 CLUSTER A small cluster of few nodes - acquired Master/Worker Nodes and NAS. Proceed with the SW installation Video conferencing facility : Plan to go ahead with CMS Center Good bandwidth for CMS
