2 2 OVERVIEW Centerity provides next-gen, end-to-end IT monitoring and Business Service Management (BSM) support for VCE s converged infrastructure solutions. VCE is known for its capacity to build and assemble Vblock Systems using EMC storage, Cisco networking, and VMware virtualization technology. Centerity compatibility with the Vblock platform has been certified by Superna labs, an independent third party provider of certification services which help hardware and software vendors (ISVs) develop data center solutions for VCE, EMC, VMware, and other technologies. Centerity support for all Vblock aspects has been successfully tested with Centerity version 3.X for end to end compatibility with Vblock. This guide explains how to configure Centerity to monitor VCE VBLOCK. For more comprehensive technical information about Centerity please refer to the complete Centerity Admin Guide PREREQUISITES VBLOCK INFRASTRATURE 1. Cisco UCS: 1.1. SNMP Access 1.2. Dedicated username/password for monitoring 1.3. Port 161 allowed connection (firewall) 1.4. Port 443 TCP allowed connection (firewall). 2. Cisco Nexus: 2.1. SNMP Access 2.2. Port 161 allowed connection (firewall) 3. Cisco MD5: 3.1. SNMP Access 3.2. Port 161 allowed connection (firewall) 4. EMC VNX: 4.1. Dedicated username/password for monitoring 4.2. Port 443 TCP allowed connection (firewall). 5. VMware Vsphere: 5.1. Dedicated username/password for monitoring 5.2. Port 443 TCP allowed connection (firewall).

3 3 VMWARE VSPHERE CONFIGURATION 1. Go in the Admin Discovery VMware Discovery Enter the VCenter hostname / IP address and credentials. Click on "Scan Network". 2. Once the discovery is complete, select the Data Centers; ESXs and Virtual Machines that will be monitored using the check box on the right. 3. Go in Admin Hosts. Search for the main VCenter and enter into the "Settings" tab.

4 4 4. Enter valid VCenter credentials (it can be a read-only user). 5. In the "Host Type" box, choose the role of the server (DataCenter for the VCenter, ESX for ESX server). Then click on "Update". 6. Run Policy Installation, wait for up to 5 minutes to see results from the checks. CISCO UCS CONFIGURATION 1. To Discover Interfaces: 1.1. Go in the Admin Discovery SNMP Discovery Fill in the required fields: IP Address, community name and SNMP Version: 1.3. Assign the profile SNMP Interface All Statistics in order to add monitoring for traffic, errors, discards and interface status. Click scan.

5 Filter the results as required. It is recommended to select only interfaces that are currently up: 1.5. Click Save. 2. To add UCS monitoring via API: 2.1. Acquire the following host profile from Centerity website: Go to Admin Settings Import / Export and import as a host profile Go to the relevant UCS host under Admin Hosts, select the checkbox and choose action: profile: 2.4. Apply the Cisco UCS profile:

6 Go to Admin Settings Resources and change $USER13$ to the UCS username and $USER16$ to the UCS password Install Policy. EMC VNX CONFIGURATION 1. Acquire the following host profile from Centerity website: 2. Copy the rpm file to the Centerity server and install it: rpm -ihv NaviCLI-Linux-32-x86-en_US i386.rpm 3. Go to Admin Settings Import / Export and import as a host profile. 4. Go to Admin Hosts and create a new host using Host Wizard on the top right corner: 5. Create the host according to the EMC details. Note: For EMC the monitored IP addresses are the SPA and SPB.

7 7 6. Go to Admin Settings Resources and change $USER8$ to the EMC username and $USER30$ to the EMC password. 7. Install Policy. GENERAL SWITCHES CONFIGURATION 1. Go in the Admin Discovery SNMP Discovery. 2. Fill in the required fields: IP Address, community name and SNMP Version: 3. Assign the profile SNMP Interface All Statistics in order to add monitoring for traffic, errors, discards and interface status. Click scan.
