2 It s true: Transferring into one of the largest and best engineering schools in the country may seem a little intimidating, but we re here to help. And we want you. First things first: You must have completed at least 24 hours of course work from the degree track for your would-be major, all with a grade of C or better. We have a link to the degree tracks on one of our Web pages, That s right: We have a Web page for students just like you. Keep in mind that the GPA required for admission to a specific engineering major varies from major to major. Ask an academic advisor from the department that has the major you re interested in what GPA you need to have. You can find contact information for our academic advisors on our Web site, Oh, and this might make it even easier. We have agreements (called articulation agreements) with some schools that make it a piece of cake to know what you need to transfer here. We have a link to that list at But don t sweat it if your school s not on the list: You should still apply.

3 So, how do I choose a major? The first step in applying to the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M is to decide on a major. We offer majors in Aerospace Engineering Biological and Agricultural Engineering Biomedical Engineering Chemical Engineering Civil Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering Engineering Technology Industrial Distribution Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering Nuclear Engineering Ocean Engineering Petroleum Engineering Radiological Health Engineering Once you have looked at the degree requirements for the specific engineering degree program you re interested in, contact the undergraduate academic advisor in that department. The advisor is the most knowledgeable about the current curriculum requirements and options, can discuss your situation and may be able to give you advice and suggestions about transferring.

4 What happens if I don t get my first choice major? If a department declines admission, other engineering programs in Texas A&M Engineering may review your application and offer you admission to their programs. Once you re admitted to an engineering major, you must complete one semester before requesting a change to another major. If you re offered admission to a different program than you originally requested, there s a chance you might not yet be qualified for the originally requested program. Please don t accept if you are not honestly interested in the offered program. Once one semester has been completed, you can change majors within the college of engineering only after receiving approval from the academic advisor in the new department. What courses transfer? Remember those articulation agreements we mentioned earlier? This is where they come in. If we have an agreement with your school, then the courses you need to transfer are already identified. Click the Articulation Agreements link at for your school s advisor, and contact that person for more information. Otherwise, the Transfer Admissions office determines which courses will count as equivalent courses in all Texas A&M degree programs. 5 What about financial aid? More than 34,000 students approximately 75 percent receive some form of financial assistance. Students at Texas A&M received more than $329 million in financial assistance in through scholarships, grants, loans, waivers, work-study and on-campus employment.
