GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY B. SCOPE: To establish orientation procedures for staff positions. This policy will cover the Department of Surgery. C. ADMINISTRATION: D. TEXT This policy will be revised by the administrator and approved by the chairman. It is the goal of the department to ensure that all new employees are welcomed into the department and given all the tools and information to become of fully functioning members of the team as soon as possible. In order to do so, the new employee checklist needs to be completed prior to arrival. The new employee should be signed up for New Employee Orientation. All jobs specific training (PSS Training) should be arranged by the supervisor. For all nursing and patient services specialists positions within the Department, a competency requirement/skills checklist will be followed during the first couple of weeks of employment to ensure employees are properly oriented with their jobs and all skills are covered (see attachments). E. DISTRIBUTION This policy and procedure should be distributed to all Department of Surgery Employees. F. REVISION It shall be the responsibility of the administrator and/or designee to indicate any revisions to this policy and it shall be the responsibility of the chairman to approve any revisions to this policy.
