Cornerstone Assistance Network AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically for organizations and individuals to develop lasting solutions to poverty in America. Founded as Volunteers In Service To America in 1965 and incorporated into the AmeriCorps programs in 1993, VISTA has been on the front line in the fight against poverty in America for more than 40 years. For more information about the program, please visit its website. We will be recruiting several AmeriCorps VISTA members to start in July and August. At this time we are not 100% sure what those positions will be. CAN VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit partner organization (located across Texas) building the capacity of the organization and mobilizing local resources to achieve sustainable solutions to poverty. VISTA members qualify for the following in-service and end-of-service benefits: Living allowance of approximately $11,000 per year before taxes, life insurance, 10 personal and medical days of leave, student loan forbearance, relocation allowance*, and childcare assistance*, one year of noncompetitive eligibility for a federal government position, as well as a $5,500 education award or $1,500 cash stipend.
