We study some aspects of the ballistic transport in nanostructures with spinorbit coupling (SOC) in 2-dimensional electron gases (2DEG): (i) Current induced spin polarization in mesoscopic ballistic samples due to Rashba spin orbit coupling. (ii) Transverse electron focusing in SOC ballistic 2DEGs used for detecting spin polarized currents; here we pay special attention to the current polarization generated by a quantum point contact (QPC) due to the SOC. (iii) Imaging techniques in the transverse electron focusing setup. (iv) Magnetic breakdow of cyclotron orbits in the transverse electron focusing setup when there is both Rashba and Dresselhauss spin-orbit couplings. (v) Superconductor 2DEG hybrid devices. Josephson junctions with a 2DEG with a QPC in the presence of SOC: the QPC polarizes the current and this produces non trivial effects in the current phase relation of the Josephson junction.
