Young Farmers We re supporting young farmers at every stage of their careers with financing, learning opportunities and more. Start young We partner with 4-H Canada (and have for the last quarter century), and with the Association des jeunes ruraux du Québec and the Fédération de la relève agricole du Québec for rural youth. FCC helps Agriculture in the Classroom build awareness and understanding of agriculture by providing education resources to teachers and students across Canada. FCC on Campus The life of a student can be demanding. We re making it a little easier by funding ag student lounge improvements and distributing our FCC on Campus Ag Bag orientation kits at ag colleges across Canada. As well, students who use our FCC Management Software in their curriculum get a discount on our accounting and field management software. Building for the future We re building success for young farmers through financing and sharing knowledge. Our Transition and Young Farmer loans have features to help young farmers get up and running. 27
Community Investment We give back. We also encourage employees to volunteer their time and talents to many different organizations. Why? Because we believe that operating in a socially responsible manner is just the right thing to do. Fighting hunger With a focus on rural Canada, FCC Drive Away Hunger helps food banks feed people and increase awareness of hunger. There are annual tours across the country and one in Regina, where our corporate office is located. Working with community partners and customers, we collect food and cash on the tours and in each of our 100 offices in support of local food banks. FCCDriveAwayHunger.ca Funding community projects Each year, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund provides capital funding between $5,000 and $25,000 to successful community improvement projects in rural Canada, totalling $1 million. Examples include firefighting and ambulance equipment, food banks and community centres. Check out previous projects online. FCCAgriSpiritFund.ca We also support projects in Regina, home to hundreds of our employees, through the FCC Regina Spirit Fund. Check out projects previously funded. FCCReginaSpiritFund.ca 28
29
Taking agriculture to school We re the founding partner of Canadian Ag Literacy Week, presented by Agriculture in the Classroom Canada. The week helps elementary school students understand the importance of agriculture. Promoting rural safety Make no mistake: agriculture can be a dangerous industry. By taking precautions, you can protect yourself and your family while saving time and money. FCC works with the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) to make sure farm safety is on your mind. And through the FCC Ag Safety Fund, we support organizations that provide training to keep rural Canada safe. Get details at casa-acsa.ca/grants. Supporting Canada s official languages The FCC Expression Fund contributes to the vitality of communities where both official languages thrive. Each year, successful applicants receive between $2,000 and $10,000 for projects such as community centres and daycares, theatrical productions, galleries and concerts. 33 FCC Vision Research Panel Be heard Get involved Influence change Where do the best ideas come from? You. FCC knows that the best ideas come from those we serve. That s why we created Vision, FCC s national research panel. When we have a business question, we go straight to the source Canadian producers, food processors, ag students and agribusinesses to get the answer. Who benefits? Our customers and the entire agriculture industry. When Canada s largest agriculture research panel speaks, the industry listens. Vision lets members share their ideas and opinions about Canadian agriculture and how FCC can best serve this exciting, growing industry. Join the 8,000 panel members today at fccvision.ca. 33
Agriculture More Than Ever Most of us in agriculture see the great opportunities in front of us and are excited and optimistic for the future. For ag to reach its full potential, everyone in the industry needs to be proactive and start speaking up, speaking positively and speaking first. There will always be challenges in ag and focusing on the positives doesn t have to be at the expense of addressing concerns. We need to make sure people know that ag is a vital and forward-thinking industry, ripe with opportunity. We wrote the book on sustainability: we care about the environment, animal welfare and producing safe, healthy food for a growing world. And we have the facts to back this up. At FCC, we ve always believed in the industry and the people who make it great. That s why we initiated Ag More Than Ever an industry cause made up of hundreds of partners and agvocates from across the country, all committed to improving perceptions, dispelling myths and creating positive dialogue about agriculture. Ag More Than Ever provides resources and a forum for our industry to tell the real, positive story of Canadian ag. All of us in ag have the power and the responsibility to change perceptions. Ag More Than Ever is here to help you share your optimism in effective and engaging ways. Learn more and join the conversation at AgMoreThanEver.ca. 34
