Department administration and management, planning, implementation and administration of public health activities as they relate to health, consumer protection, and environmental protection. Liaison and coordination with other local, state and federal agencies. OPERATIONS DIVISION The Operations Division is responsible for management functions: developing and monitoring the agency s budget, planning and organizing its health care programs and determining overall policies, priorities and objectives. This section also provides administrative and clerical support for the agency, is responsible for community relations, and supplies general information. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION Provides a broad spectrum of services aimed at protection of Madison and Dane County citizens from disease or disability caused by exposure to infectious organisms, chemical contaminants or physical hazards in the environment International Lane Doug Voegeli, Director of Environmental Health/Labs Division Environmental Health/Lab section management, Department planning and emergency preparedness. Tristen Jordan, Program Manager, Emergency Preparedness Insures that emergency plans are written, updated, communicated and practiced on a regular basis. Insures Public Health staff are properly trained to respond to emergencies. John Hausbeck, Program Manager, Soil and Water Program Household health and safety problems, sanitation, rodent, insect and general environmental health and pollution problems and environmental lead investigation in Dane County. Regulation of lodging facilities, swimming pools, investigation of food and waterborne illness. Household health and safety problems, sanitation, rodent, insect and general environmental health and pollution problems and environmental lead investigation in Madison. 5 POLICY, PLANNING & EVALUATION DIVISION Assesses the health of Madison and Dane County. Epidemiologists collect, organize, analyze and communicate health-related data, tracking health trends. They work with colleagues across the department and in the community to better understand opportunities to promote maternal and child health, ensure effective control of communicable disease, boost environmental health and investigate the social and economic factors influencing health outcomes.
