Successful completion of the GED program through the Upper Valley Career Center by Miami or Shelby county residents or the ABLE Office at Greenville High School by Darke County residents; minimum GED score of 550; full-time or part-time students; renewable. Apply through Upper Valley Career Center or ABLE office at Greenville High School. Full or part-time students; Miami County resident; CGPA of at least 2.5, verified by high school or college transcripts; program of study to include one of: Business Management, Industrial Management, Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technicial/ Clinical Lab Technicial/ Registered Nurse, Medical Office Assistant, Phlebotomy, Physical Therapy Assistant, or Social Services. Separate essay response is required. Candidate will be selected based on demonstrated commitment to safety; academic record; demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities; goals and aspirations; references and essay. COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THIS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM. 2. FOR CONSIDERATION OF NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS SUBMIT THE FAFSA TO BY APRIL 1, INCLUDE 500 WORD TYPED ESSAY describing the impact this scholarship would have on you and your academic, professional and personal goals. 4. INCLUDE ALL TRANSCRIPTS: HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS must submit a seven-semester transcript listing grade point average and class rank; this transcript includes the grades for the first semester of your senior year (you can get this transcript from your school in January after the winter break). (Include SAT and ACT scores if available.) OTHER COLLEGES If you attended other colleges you must submit a transcript from all of them. EDISON STUDENTS need not submit an Edison transcript. All applicants for these need-based scholarships must submit the most recent FAFSA to by April 1; however, to ensure timely processing and review of your application, you should file your FAFSA as soon as possible. 6 Memorials. Scholarships. Endowments. Several scholarships have been established by generous individuals as endowments: The Greg and Alissa Blankenship Scholarship was established in 2001 by Greg and Alissa, long-standing Piqua Community supporters This scholarship is provided annually to a student that is enrolled full-time and majoring in Engineering or Fine Arts field. The Sheryl Brinley Memorial Scholarship was established by members of the Business and Professional Women s Association located in Darke County. Sheryl s commitment to the club and its philosophy inspired them to establish a scholarship in her memory for a female adult student from Darke County studying business. Raman K. Das, M.D., beloved Piqua physician and husband of Violet Das. This scholarship, established in Dr. Das memory, is available to full- and part-time students. The John J. Dugan Memorial Scholarship, established in 2004 by his wife, Jean, memorializes Miami County Commissioner John J. Dugan. This scholarship is awarded annually to full-time Miami County students majoring in history, political science, government, or pre-law. The Holly Hahn Memorial Scholarship was made possible by the gifts of family, friends and former students. The scholarship celebrates her life of dedication to helping students succeed, particularly those for whom English is their second language. The D. Douglas King Memorial Scholarship was established by his mother, Marjorie L. King, a long-time resident of Darke County, Ohio. Marjorie King established this trust upon her death to provide full-tuition to graduates of Ansonia High School. The William M. McCulloch Memorial Scholarship was established by his family in honor of his notable contributions to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and to his belief in the importance of education for the betterment of all. The Miami County F.O.P. Memorial Scholarship was established to honor members of the Miami County Fraternal Order of Police for youth in Miami County interested in the criminal justice field. The Myers-Vaccaro Scholarship in Engineering is given by two dedicated Edison faculty members in loving memory of their fathers, Clarence H. Myers, a civil engineer, and Charles A. Vaccaro, an electrical engineer. The Kathy Oda Memorial Scholarship is a memorial fund given by Altrusa members from all over the country in her memory. Kathy was Edison s first librarian, and a dedicated Piqua Altrusa Club member. The scholarship will benefit young women who have been out of the workforce and are ready to further their education. William Hart Pitsenbarger, a Piqua native who received the Air Force Cross for saving the lives of numerous comrades in Vietnam, was killed during his last rescue mission. His parents, Frank and Irene Pitsenbarger, established this scholarship to realize his dream of completing a college education. The Charles E. Ridenour Memorial Scholarship was established by his sister, Eileen Leasure. Mr. Ridenour was a teacher of welding and enjoyed his previous interaction with Edison students. She wanted to have that spirit of learning to continue after his death. Retired faculty Jean Shaneyfelt established her Scholarship Endowment as a symbol of appreciation of her time at Edison. Awards will be made to students enrolled full- or part-time and majoring in the business management and/or marketing field. Through the leadership of G.W. Hartzell, the Tri-County Education Trust was established at the same time as the College in The initial fund-raising effort in area communities created a capital fund, which has been the basis of scholarships and grant-in-aid awards since The Samuel E. Valandingham Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of this Piqua High School graduate with an interest in architectural drawing. The Dr. Kenneth A. Yowell President Emeritus Scholarship Endowment was established by Dr. Yowell upon his 2011 retirement as Edison s President of 23 years. Awards will be made to first generation, degree-seeking students from Edison s service area.
