1 High-speed Nationwide Data transfer WAN connectivity Client : One of the Public sector undertakings in Karnataka Customer's Requirement : The The customer wanted to establish WAN connectivity between the Central Location and 4 branch offices for data transfer application. The Central Location is located in Karnataka and the other branches are in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata. The customer wanted 2mbps bandwidth between the central location and the branches. The customer wanted the connectivity to be alwayson. The customer wanted SNMP Management option in the devices. Summary of Dax solution : Dax recommended lease line based connectivity solution, which could be used for the said data transfer applications. For the central location, Dax recommended the customer to opt for Modular security Router that provides leased line connectivity to the branch offices at the required speed of 2 mbps. Among four remote branches, Dax recommended the customer to opt for modular WAN router which would provide connectivity to the central location at the required speed of 2 mbps.

2 Details of the solution: For the customer, Dax recommended lease line based connectivity solution, which could be used for data transfer application. Central Location: For the central location at Karnataka, Dax recommended the customer to opt for 1 no. DX-1841 Modular Access Router which has 4 nos high speed serial-port slots,2 nos expansion slots, 2 nos fixed 10/100 mbps ports. 4 slots of the router were loaded with 4 nos high speed serial sync./async. WAN interface module to provide connectivity to all the remote branches at the required speed of 2 mbps. One Ethernet port was used to provide connectivity to the local users. Two nos. of expansion slots and 1 no. of Ethernet port were left free for future up gradation. Remote Branches : For all the remote branches, Dax recommended the customer to opt for 1 no. of modular WAN router for each of the locations, which has 1 no. WAN slot and 1 no. of 10/100 mbps Ethernet port. The WAN slot of the router was loaded with 1 no. serial sync./async. module to

3 provide connectivity to the central location at the required speed of 2 mbps. The Ethernet port was used to provide connectivity to the local users. Highlights of the solution: Highlights of Dax DX-1841 Router: Scalability Two expansion slots and 1 Ethernet port were left free in the central location router which could be used for future network expansion. High Performance: Driven by a powerful CPU processor MPC8250, 200MHz speed, the Dax Router supports routing speed of up to 70 Kpps providing advanced Quos, security, and network integration features as required in today s evolving networks. High Port Density The modular architecture of the Dax Router allows variety of interfaces to be concentrated on a compact unit. Dax DX-1841 router has four high-speed serial-port slots, two expansion slots, and two 10/100Mbps Ethernet port. Dax DX-1841 allows mix and match of any available modules on a single Chassis. The VPN modules can be installed in the Internal Bus Socket slot. Security and Reliability Dax Routers series routers support IPSec and multiple protocols (such as L2TP and GRE) to guarantee Comprehensive network security service as well as network performance. High Network Availability Dax Routers provide backup in multiple forms through ISDN or PSTN. The standard power supply module with CE authentication can guarantee protection from surge, high-voltage, low-voltage and high current producing stable and reliable output. QoS functions IP networks will soon be required to provide QoS to satisfy the ever-growing business demands. Dax Routers can provide guaranteed bandwidth; various network services, such as provision for queue management (such as PQ, FIFO and WFQ). Support for legacy networks With support for features such as XOT, the Dax can transport X.25 packets captured from legacy devices over the IP network. Thus the Router can optimize the available bandwidth. Operating system Platform Independency: Dax routers are operating system independent and PC/Server independent. Router function is based on IP protocol. Thus, when the customer changes their operating system platform, all WAN connectivity devices would function normally with out any need for change in the configuration.
