2 Midwest Home Health Agency is a home care provider, servicing Woodridge, IL. Home care allows our elderly clients to stay at home and receive medical care for a health condition or assistance with daily tasks. We offer services day or night, depending on our client s needs. Our services include health care, medical care, medication management, feeding, bathing, light housekeeping and more. The business started June 2010, started with 15 to 20 clients in the first month then continued to consistently grow. Midwest Home Health Agency had consistently provided excellent care to the clients and earned new clients from the referral of their satisfied customers. As the clientele continue to grow, there are future plans to expand the business. Currently home based located at 2111 Happy Lane, Woodridge, IL., contact number The business office is located at the first level of the house. The purpose of this project is to upgrade the current system to a wireless connection. Findings: The site survey covered the following main activities: Visiting and assessing the location, topology, and distances Inspecting and assessing existing computers and equipment Assessing the services to be delivered and their viability Analyzing and recommending the best service providers in the area 2.1 Existing Internet AT&T, Comcast and Sprint are the few service providers in the area. The current service provider of the company at this time is Verizon, which the customer found to be unreliable most of the time, the internet had been down 6 times for the last 8 months, and they find it to be slow. Verizon has an internet download speed of 22Mbps, while Comcast can provide cable modem internet access up to 105 Mbps in download bandwidth. After comparing and analyzing both providers, Comcast offers a better and more reliable internet service.

Documentation is a combination of paper and electronic. No existing database for client management and billing.

4 Network Protocol Analyzer I used Wireshark, a free WLAN analyzer that enables live wifi usage analysis on windows. The owner felt that since they are just starting the business, it is more beneficial and cost effective to have the office in the house.

5 Current Set Up of Midwest Home Health Company The system need to be upgraded to wireless and the client wanted to change the two existing old desktop to a lap top, wanted the ability to access the files and data when out of state. Mobility is a big factor, the client wanted to be able to manage the business from out of state, as the client loves to travel periodically. The client is also concern about aesthetic and wanted to eliminate the unsightly cables. 6 Recommendations 3.1 Internet Solution I am recommending for the Company to switch to a more reliable service provider, based on the few people I have interviewed in the location, Comcast is the most reliable in the area. Statistics show that Comcast has only been down twice in a year, and addresses the problems within 24 hours. Comcast gives the most comprehensive on line protection, it includes the Norton Security Suite, identity theft protection and free on line storage with the ability to increase storage size for future needs. 3.2 Technology Set Up The Cisco wireless router will be located in the first floor at the corner of the office. The Cisco-Linksys WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router has built in firewalls, advanced encryption, and authentication features that protect the network from external threats, keeping the business assets safe. Has the VPN or Virtual Private Network technology that allows remote workers connect to the network through a secure internet pathway, accessing office and files. Security features, including proven firewalls, support for Wi-Fi security standards to help fight spam, viruses, and web threats. Frequency band of 2.4 GHz. Web-based configuration that simplifies the set up process. The printer is fairly new, and the customer is unaware that this printer have a built in Wi-Fi, all we need to do is connect the printer into the wireless network.

8 Hard Benefits This is a one-time investment that will benefit the company for long time. Installation speed, simplicity, flexibility and cost are a few advantages of WLAN. Soft Benefits The ability to access the network from home is a big factor in productivity. Employees who are unable to physically come to the office have the ability to work from home, more flexibility thereby increasing employee satisfaction. When visiting current and potential clients, documentation is real time, issues/needs is addressed immediately and increases customer satisfaction as well. 9 3.3 Connectivity Options Before we install the wireless connection, we use Netstumbler to analyze and mark wi-fi access points which are nearby to avoid interference in our system.
