During NAIDOC Week of 2013, NMM held an open day and invited other Aboriginal Organisations and members of the Community to the Sussex Street premises to enjoy a NAIDOC celebration. The event consisted of Welcoming speeches from the Chairperson, lunch, networking and as it was a cold and rainy day in July, a lovely warm fire. NMM is in the final stages of the negotiation process for the Sussex Street building to be divested to us by the Indigenous Land Corporation, (ILC). This is a result of continually meeting the objectives placed upon us by the ILC over a three (3) year period. The establishment of this Alliance has occurred at a crucial time, particularly when many Community controlled organisations are under the threat of extreme funding cuts, that will impact on their ability to continue to deliver effective and appropriate services. As of 30 June, 2013, NMM no longer receives Government funding and will be fully self- sufficient. We have conducted several strategic planning workshops throughout the year and are ready to embark on an extensive Organisational Review.
