2 OHIO ECONOMIC OVERVIEW Ohio s Economic Climate Strong and Getting Stronger Ohio is generating momentum with more than 111,000 jobs created since January 2011 and experiencing its lowest unemployment rate since This momentum is supported by an improved economic climate, Governor Kasich a business-minded governor, and a new economic development strategy that is focused on delivering positive job results throughout the state. 3 JOBSOHIO Q2 UPDATE OHIO JOBS INVESTMENTS GROW IN Q2 JobsOhio focuses its economic development efforts on a diverse portfolio of targeted industries and business functions that drive the state s economy and have the greatest impact on job creation. Projects announced in the second quarter represent job creation and capital investment commitments to be completed in the next three years. With its state and regional partners, JobsOhio won 77 projects with commitments to retain or create 15,904 jobs totaling more than $712 million in annual payroll. These 77 projects represent a total capital investment of $863 million. The state s three-year return on investment (ROI) is estimated at $31 million.
