2 Polyphonic Sample Edit Mode Here, the sample playback level of each sample can now be individually adjusted and mixed in real-time, using the touch pad's visual representation of volume faders for each sample. 1. Hold down the SHIFT button and press the SAMPLE BANK button that contains the sample that you want to adjust the playback level for. The Sample Editing Page will appear in the display. The SAMPLE BANK buttons containing the sample to be edited will blink and the PAD LED will display a bar graph, indicating the sample playback level. The LEDs above the remaining banks will indicate their respective levels. 2. When you touch the bar graph displayed in the touch pad, the corresponding sample playback level can be adjusted. (Operation (1)) 3. When your finger touches the touch pad above another SAMPLE BANK button, the sample to be edited will change to the selected bank. You can adjust its playback level accordingly. (Operation (2)) 4. When you press the SAMPLE BANK button, the sample playback state will be changed. (Operation (3)) When you press another SAMPLE BANK button, the sample to be edited will change. 5. When you press the SHIFT button, the setting will be entered and the KP3 will return to its normal state.

3 New Sample Playback Trigger Gating Options You can arm the trigger method to be used when you press the SAMPLE BANK button during the sample playback. 1. Hold down the SHIFT button and press the desired SAMPLE BANK button. The Sample Editing Page will appear on the display. 2. If the Start Point setting appears on the display, press the PROGRAM/BPM knob to display the trigger type this is set for the selected sample. 3. Turn the PROGRAM/BPM knob to select the trigger type. When you press the SAMPLE BANK button, the sample playback will start and you can check the sample. When you press another SAMPLE BANK button, the sample to be edited will be changed. 4. When you press the SHIFT button, the setting will be entered and the KP3 will return to its normal state. NOTE: A one-shot sample cannot be set for TYPE 1 and 2. NOTE: The setting selected here is disabled when the sample program (from the program SMP.1 to CRS.4) mode is selected or when the trigger is set to turn on or off by MIDI message. NOTE: The trigger can be set for each sample.

4 Trigger Type List Type : When the sample is not heard, the loop continues playing and each time the SAMPLE BANK button is pressed, the volume control is turned on or off. Explanation: This setting is synchronized to the audio input (sampling song) and is suitable for overlapping or changing the songs performed with the sample. Furthermore, the setting is suitable for swapping synchronized loop samples with each other. Type G : When the sample is not heard, the loop continues playing. The sample volume is set to on (Gate) only when the SAMPLE BANK button is held down. Explanation: The basic operation is the same as Type 1. The sound is only heard when the SAMPLE BANK button is held down, therefore, this setting is unsuitable for long periods of playback. However, this setting is suitable when the MUTE button is touched repeatedly or when a gating effect, such as LF.20: Slicer, is applied to a specified sample. Hold

5 Type3 3.r.- : In this setting, the sample always starts from the beginning (resetting). Each time the SAMPLE BANK button is pressed, the volume control is turned on or off. Explanation: This setting is convenient if you want to play the selected loop sample at any timing. Basically, this setting is convenient for the same uses as Type 1. However, if you don t start playback after sampling, this setting is more convenient than Type 1. If this setting is selected, the sample always starts from the beginning when the SAMPLE BANK button is pressed, therefore you don t need to use the ALIGN function. Type 4 4.r.G : The sample always starts from the beginning (resetting). The sample is set to on (Gate) only when the SAMPLE BANK button is held down. Explanation: This setting is convenient if you want to play the loop sample at any time and at any length. If you hold the button down longer than the sample length, the sample automatically loops. In addition, if you press the SAMPLE BANK button continuously, a roll effect can be achieved. Hold

6 New Loop Type Option Within programs LoP.1 to LP.13 and SY.10, a new Loop2 feature has been added, to provide a variance in rhythmic retriggering of samples.. 1. Hold down the SHIFT button and press the PROGRAM MEMORY 6 (PAD LED) button. 2. Select LooP (loop type selection) with the PROGRAM/BPM knob. 3. Press the PROGRAM/BPM knob. Turn the PROGRAM/BPM knob and select typ.1 or typ.2. typ.1 (Type 1): When the Looper hits a half-beat, the loop starts from the beginning of the phrase of the half loop regardless of the beat. typ.2 (Type 2): When the Looper hits a half-beat, the loop of the half-size phrase starts at the point that matches the current beat. 4. To save the setting, press the WRITE button. When you don t want to save the setting, press the SHIFT button.
