KEY STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS Sport Birmingham Executive Board I am Chair and Trustee, with responsibility for Research and Intelligence services, on the Sport Birmingham Board. I have led the move to incorporation which has positioned the partnership at arm s length from the City Council and Sport England, enabling a more proactive response to the challenges and opportunities that exist within the City and the Region. The partnership is part of the Government`s Regional agenda for Sport and Physical Activity and co-ordinates activity between the Public, Private and Voluntary sectors. Directors of Sport Forum I am a member and past Chair of The National Forum for Directors of Sport in Further and Higher Education. The group engages closely with the student body and their paid officials developing policies on issues such as equality and diversity, safeguarding and facility development. The Directors of Sport are regularly asked by government to contribute to the debate on physical activity, health education and associated agendas and provide a vital link between sporting organisations and the higher education sector. Newman University and the Birmingham Midland Institute This new partnership has been established to investigate the possibilities that exist for Newman University and the Birmingham Midlands Institute to work together for the advancement of educational opportunities for the people of Birmingham, the wider West Midlands, and the development of national and international markets. The first stage of the project involves Newman University running its Masters in Victorian Studies from the Institutes city centre site in 2014 and its newly validated MBA in It is envisaged that Newman University will also play a key role in the future restoration of this important Birmingham landmark.
