7 The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Incorporated December 31, 2008 Operational The Congress commenced full operations on January 1, Commonly referred to as the Congress and ACOG Tax Exempt Status IRC 501(c)(6) business league. Members Effective October 1, 2009, current College Fellows became Fellows in the Congress. Now when Fellows join the Congress they automatically become a member of the College. Dues All national, district and section dues are paid to the Congress, except for the Armed Forces. Dues paid to a district or section in the Congress will be used solely to support the district or section s activities and these dues will not be allocated to the College. By law, money from dues is not permitted to be given to candidates running for office. Any contributions to candidates must come from personal funds designated for that purpose. Political Action Committee (PAC) A 501(c)(6) organization may sponsor a PAC. The Congress Ob-GynPAC will work to protect and promote the legislative interests of Fellows on Capitol Hill. Elections Elections for all national, district, and section officers are held in the Congress, except for the Armed Forces District (AFD) and its sections. Executive Board Identical to the College Executive Board, except that the AFD Chair does not serve on the Congress board. Congress and College Activities Office of the Executive Vice President Congress Activities Coding District & Section Activities (except AFD) Fellows & Junior Fellows Government Relations Health Economics Grievance Process Professional Liability State Legislative & Regulatory Activities VRQC The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Incorporated August 4, 1951 Operational The College remains in operation on January 1, 2010, with some changes. Commonly referred to as the College Should not be referred to as ACOG Tax Exempt Status remains an IRC 501(c)(3) charitable, educational organization. Members Fellows of the Congress are automatically members of the College. Fellows cannot only be members of the College. Dues Congress dues will continue to support College activities. All Armed Forces District dues will be automatically disbursed to the College. Members are still able to make charitable contributions to the College on the dues statement. Political Action Committee (PAC) The College is a 501(c)(3) organization and as such is prohibited from participating in political activity or sponsoring a PAC.
