1 Roberto Carlo Correa Bastidas,MD. Interventional Cardiologist Doctor and Internist Dr. Roberto Correa graduated from the medical school at Universidad de Oriente in Bolivar State, Venezuela in 1994 with a specialization in Internal Medicine (1999) and Cardiology (2002) at Universidad Central de Venezuela, Hospital Universitario de Caracas and Hospital Central de la Fuerza Armada de Venezuela, respectively. He was later formed in Interventional Cardiology at Hospital Privado Centro Médico de Caracas. Currently making a two year, online Master Degree Advancement in Cardiology at Universidad Católica de San Antonio de Murcia (Murcia- Spain), ending in May of Which is supported by the Spanish Cardiology Society (Sociedad Española de Cardiología) altogether with the Venezuelan Cardiology Society (Sociedad Venezolana de Cardiología). He has scientific publications in the area of Vessel Wall Endothelium, Nitric Oxide. He currently serves as Interventional Cardiologist at Hospital Privado Centro Médico de Caracas, where he is also the Scientific Coordinator of the Cardiovascular Investigations Unit named Dr. Victor Baquero. Consecutively he has attended national and international conferences in the areas of general cardiology, interventional cardiology and hypertension. Among them: The National Congress of Cardiology, The American College of Cardiology Congress, The European Society of Cardiology Congress, The EuroPCR in Paris, The American Congress of Interventional Cardiology (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutic- TCT), The Latin America and Venezuelan Interventional Cardiology Society Congress, World Cardiology Congress, and European and International Congresses of hypertension. As Interventional Cardiologist he is dedicated to solving the problems of coronary obstruction through Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Renal Denervation in the treatment of resistant hypertension, atherosclerotic renal artery disease, peripheral arterial disease and carotid atherosclerosis as well as the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms and other structural heart problems such as the Patent Foramen Ovale and the atrial septal defect. He is a guest lecturer at scientific meetings related to issues of general cardiology and interventional cardiology and also is the professor of Interventional Cardiology Post- Graduate Course at Hospital Privado Centro Médico de Caracas. 6 SURGICAL INTERVENTIONS ü Coronary obstructions treatment including complex lesions of the coronary arteries: Angioplasty with Stent implantation in multi- vessel disease: when partially 2 or more arteries are clogged. Injuries or obstructions in Forks, that is, when a main vessel and the branch of that vessel are compromised. Total Occlusions: It is when a vessel is 100% clogged by cholesterol or fat. Ostial Lesions: Obstructions at the start of the vessel. Main Truncus: obstructions in the origin or in the bifurcation of the primary vessel of left system of the coronary arteries ü Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis who are not candidates for the surgery. Those patients who are referred have severe disease or severe obstruction of the aortic valve and the risk for valve replacement through surgery is high. This surgical intervention of TAVI is performed in the Hemodynamics room with the participation of a multidisciplinary team which includes three Interventional Cardiologists, two Cardiovascular Surgeons, an anesthesiologist, an echocardiographer expert in Transesophageal Echography, a Cardiopulmonary Technician, a Perfusionist Technician, Specialized Nurses in Hemodynamics and a Specialist Clinical Technician for the preparation of the valve. This procedure since being performed via transcatheter has a faster patient recovery and within 72 hours the patient may be released. ü Renal Artery denervation in patients with resistant systemic hypertension. ü Balloon angioplasty or stent implantation in iliac arteries, Femoral and distal lower limb injuries with critical obstructions. ü Amplatzer Implants in Patent Foramen Ovale and septal. ü Stent implantation in severe obstructive lesions of carotid arteries to symptomatic or asymptomatic patients with arterial anatomy susceptible to this procedure. ü Prosthetics Implant in endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm. ü Implante de Marcapasos, Resincronizadores y Cardio- Desfibrilador en conjunto con Cirujano Cardiovascular y/o Electrofisiólogo Implantation of Pacemaker, Cardiac- resynchronization and defibrillator together with Cardiovascular Surgeon and / or Electrophysiologist ü Vascular complications treatment at coronary level and of lower limbs on diabetic patients.
