1 Outlook 2003 includes a new Junk Filter. It is active, by default, and the protection level is set to low. The most obvious junk messages are caught and moved to the Junk folder. Use this folder to review and delete the messages. Settings for the filter can be changed so it is more aggressive; but, legitimate messages may be considered junk. A setting can be added to permanently delete junk messages. Review the article, About the Junk Filter, on Microsoft s Web site at Junk Settings 1. Click Tools > Options. 2. Click the Preferences tab. 3. Click the Junk button. The Junk Options dialog box displays. See Figure 1 on page 2. Options By default, the level is set to low. If the level is changed to high, check the Junk folder for legitimate messages. Consider adding these senders to the Safe Senders list when the level is set to high. Add the option of deleting junk messages permanently after working with the filter to be sure legitimate messages are not deleted. Click OK twice to close the dialog boxes. Ed. 07/2005 Page 1
