10 The Virtual Physiological Human (VPH) concept Based on the ideas of the International Physiome project Baseline: The VPH is a methodological and technological framework using advanced ICT to enable the investigation of the human body as a complex system Inter-disciplinary research (bioinformatics, medical informatics, genomics, medicine) STEP: pioneer FP6 project defined the VPH research roadmap, see VPH NOE Call2: second VPH vision and strategy Goals: Personalised (patient-specific) healthcare solutions Early diagnostics & predictive medicine Understanding diseases for the first time across several biological levels Outline Part II VPH FP7 Call7 & 9
