Admission System - Academic System Semester System Credits The number of credits assigned to each subject is determined as follows :- 1. The lecture or discussion consuming 15 hours per semester is equal to 1 credit hour. 2. The laboratory or practice consuming 30 hours per semester is equal to 1 credit hour. 3. The training practice or field study consuming 45 hours per semester is equal to 1 credit hour. - Language Use THAI Language 5. Duration of Study The duration of study 4-8 years 6. PHID 206 Introduction to Public Health The study of concept, philosophy, background and principle of public health. The relationship between public health, quality of Life and the development of society. The health problems and the way to solve these problems are also included. PHMI 304 Infectious Diseases II This communicable diseases, particularly those that are public health problems of the country; epidemiology, ecology, pathogenesis, laboratory diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of the diseases; The course also includes a series of seminars involving differential diagnosis of common signs and symptoms such as fever, cough and diarrhea. PHPR 304 Public Health Parasitology II The general morphology, classification, distribution, life cycle, transmission, prevention and control of human parasites with special emphasis on common parasitic diseases in Thailand. The knowledge of the ecology and epidemiology of parasite in relation to the social structure of the population is the basic for the prevention and control of those parasitic diseases. PHEH 401 Operation and Control of Water and Waste Water 2(1-1) Treatment Process Water supply and wastewater treatment systems, quality control of the systems so as to operate efficiently, and solutions to problems happening in the systems. Quality control will be emphasized. PHEH 402 Environmental Health Management and Supervision Series of lectures on basic administration principles in the areas of environmental health, planning, implementation, evaluation and personnel development of different levels of health organizations. The basic principles and methods of supervision are also included. PHEH 403 Field Observation in Environmental Health The students are required to observe and participate in the work of various health activities in Thailand. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the students with the practical aspects of public health work especially in environmental health. The field trips will give the students to have an opportunity to visit local food establishments, water plants, waste treatment and disposal plants, etc. and to observe the practical aspects of environmental sanitation work. Discussion will be done after observation. PHEH 404 Air Pollution and Its Control This course deals with the following topics: air pollution problems, meteorology of air pollution, characteristics and effects of air pollution, air pollution survey and control methods, public nuisance and control methods. PHEH 406 Food Sanitation 4(3-1) Principles of food hygiene and sanitation, sanitation of eating and drinking establishments, cleaning and bacteriological treatment of utensils and equipment. Sources of food, transportation, processing and control test. Food-borne disease and the legal aspects of food control. Milk, meat, sea food, canned food, restaurant, ice plants, bottling plant and market sanitation. Food preservation are also included. PHEH 408 Sanitary Entomology and Rodent Control Insect and rodent vector causing significant public health and sanitation problem with be studied. Emphasis on prevention and control methods together with the application of insecticides and rodenticides will also be included. PHEH 410 Solid Waste Disposal Generation, classification, storage, collection, transportation, processing, recycling and disposal as well as up-to-date technology innovation of solid wastes management technique. PHEH 417 Research Methodology in Environmental Health Prerequisite : PHEH 304 PHEH 306 The principles of research methodology, including many kinds environmental health studies, research process, research design and proposal. Environmental sampling technique. Environmental monitoring and impact assessment. PHEH 419 Principles of Food Safety Foods in relation to disease, food poisonings and infection, food-borne disease outbreaks, health hazards from foods, food inspection handling and storage, food control and inspection food hygiene legislation, food standards and safety. PHEH 427 Principles of Water Quality Management This course includes lecture sessions on water quality changes associated with various water uses, sources and nature of water pollutants, effects of pollutants on the natural receiving waters, introducing of nutrients to the carrier water, water quality standards, principles of water quality management as well as methods of water pollution control. PHEH 429 Special Study in Environmental Health The student is assigned to study a special topic under the supervision of advisor in environmental health aspect. Then, the student have to make a report and presentation in class. PHEH 495 Environmental Health Seminar A critical analysis and studies of literature related to environment and public health aspect. (Environmental Sanitation) 2. Philosophy & Objectives Graduates of the programme are expected to be highly qualified scholars who possess a strong theoretical knowledge base, ethical, social and moral characteristics as well as creative skills and holistic perspective to the environmental quality management and control. Graduates will be professionals who can be relied upon to provide the government, non-government and private sectors with critical appraisals that balance the competing interests of development projects. The objectives of the programme include : 1) Prepare environmental quality management and control personnel with the Knowledge and skill required for the prevention and control of environmental sanition problems as well as the ability of function and educators and planners in the field of Environmental Health or Sanitation 2) Prepare graduates with deep understanding of environmental complication and necessary of integrated approached in Environment and Health 3) Prepare graduates who are able to conduct research concerning environmental problems and development in Thailand 3.
