This program will increase student achievement for military dependent and all students in the Abilene ISD Early Childhood/Pre-K program. Academy School District 20 seeks to improve student achievement by integrating STEM principles across curricular areas, expanding STEM-related programming activities, and increasing online and blended learning opportunities through increased use of interdisciplinary instructional techniques, professional development in STEM Standards of Practice, backwards design instructional models, and increased integration of technology. Meade military installation United States Naval Academy Naval Support Activity Annapolis Station The STEM College and Career Marathon Project will use professional development, community outreach/engagement, STEM-related cocurricular offerings, and academic support programs to increase student engagement and student achievement in mathematics in eight targeted schools in Anne Arundel County while building a STEM college and career culture in the schools and communities. Bethel SD WA $ 810, ,167 2, Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) and Naval Base Kitsap The Bethel School District will fully implement STEM principles to improve student achievement for all students in Math and Science, including students from military schools. Teachers and principals in the three qualifying elementary schools and the two qualifying middle schools will learn, understand and use the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts and Mathematics (CCSS) and the New Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to focus instruction in math and science. Bishop PS OK $ 270, Fort Sill The goal of the project is to raise test scores in math and science. Because Oklahoma will be using national standards beginning in the SY the project will work to level the playing field for students as they move from state to state. The program will consist of remediation of military students in math with a certified teacher during the school day using a small group, hands-on approach. The creation of a STEM Camp during the afterschool program will allow students to activate, create, engage and enrich (A.C.E.E.) Students will create portfolios or original work as they apply what they learn to real world applications. Teachers will receive high quality professional development and ongoing coaching throughout the school year.

2 Carthage SD NY $ 1,342, , Fort Drum E-STEM will accelerate students' Mathematics and STEM learning to attain grade level proficiency in mathematics and utilize STEM principles. The goals are: (1) increase 3rd and 4th grade student achievement in mathematics; (2) increase elementary student experiences with STEM principles; and (3) Increase students sense of belonging through family, community, and University engagement opportunities to meet the diverse academic, socio/emotional needs of military and nonmilitary students. Central Union SD CA $ 680, Naval Air Station, Lemoore Central Union Elementary School District will use a Department of Defense Education Activity 3-year grant for $945,000 to improve physical fitness and wellness education and achievement at the two schools on Naval Air Station Lemoore. Christian County KY $ 810, ,836 3, Fort Cempbell The grant will aim to reduce disciplinary events among military dependent students by offering targeted reading and behavioral interventions provided by Instructional Behavioral Coaches through RtI/PBIS and through a Guidance Counselor who will provide induction and support services for military dependent students impacted by mobility and deployments. Clay County FL $ 2,500,000 2,821 7,101 9, NAS Jacksonville and Campl Blanding NGTB Clay County School District, home to over 5,000 military-connected youth, located in northeast Florida will focus on increasing academic achievement by integrating STEM content and robotics technology. Social emotional support will also be a strong focus to ensure all targeted schools create a school environment that fosters school connectedness. Douglas SD SD $ 675, , Ellsworth Air Force Base Elgin PS OK $ 904, ,469 2, Ft. Sill El Paso ISD TX $ 2,500,000 3,669 4,623 8, Ft Bliss The district project implements CCSS in grades 6-12 with fidelity. The project applies standards: 1) with fidelity to deepen students understanding and practice of math and ELA (across all 3 content areas); 2) to integrate technology and build student proficiency in digital literacy skills; and 3) to engage STEM learning as a whole-school practice building personalized learning. Raising the Bar promotes authentic teaching using technology and STEM practices for all military students and targeted students. The project goals are: (1) increase PrK-8 reading achievement, (2) increase 9-12 math achievement, and (3) increase science achievement through STEM education opportunities. The El Paso Independent School District s 21st Century Science Classrooms project will increase student achievement in 5th and 8th grade science and increase engagement of engineering fields in PreK-12 classrooms. Strategies include an engineering component, science coaches, professional development, field trips, technology, augmented instruction, and military dependent student support services.

3 Fairfax Co PS VA $ 1,620,000 1, ,183 Ft Belvoir Fort Belvoir Elementary School s (FBES) Operation Patriotic STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) will provide extended learning for students after-school and during the summer as well as a STEM resource teacher and professional development for teachers. This proposal represents a continuation of the program that FBES currently has, but expands and develops these programs more thoroughly. Flour Bluff ISD TX $ 540, ,525 1, Corpus Christi Naval AS, Corpus Christi Army Depot, Corpus Christi CGS, and Navail Air Station-Kingsville Support, both emotional and academically, in STEM courses is vital to the success of military connected high school students. Using technology as a motivator and a means of intervention, schools can build relationships and provide resources to reach a generation of technology driven individuals. Indian River CSD NY $ 1,630,490 2,376 1,019 3, Fort Drum Indian River will improve student achievement in STEM and enhance parent involvement as students are engaged in science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas. DoDEA resources will be used for professional development, STEM materials and enrichments, and home-school liaison specifically trained to promote communication between school personnel and military families. Judson Independent SD TX $ 1,755, ,934 4, Randolph AFB The primary intent of the DoDEA Grant project is to enhance student learning opportunities, improve student achievement, increase educator professional development opportunities and enhance parental involvement activities with the intent of improving student achievement for military connected and all students in Grades 5 and 8 at the target schools. Juniper Tree Academy AZ $ 269, Marine Corp Air Station (MCAS), Yuma; Yuma Proving Ground Juniper Tree Academy will increase STEM achievement in technology and math by implementing a technology program that will instill confidence, increase competence and impart content in students, while targeting the common core. A well-defined professional development program will be strategic in the success of our Beyond Technology Education program. Killeen ISD TX $ 1,877,982 3,869 4,328 8, Ft. Hood The project goal is to provide a positive transition experience for militaryconnected students and parents through a contracted transition consultant. Strategies include: (1) providing early, accurate and appropriate school placement and support; (2) improving student and parent connectedness into the local community; and (3) providing professional development for educators. Knob ster SD MO $ 1,080, , Whiteman AFB STE[+A]M will integrate creativity with science, technology, engineering and mathematics as a cornerstone of developing career ready students who are able to compete in the global marketplace. Innovative and integrated learning opportunities will foster 21st Century learning skills and imagination as students apply STE[+A]M concepts to real-world problems and solutions.

Sill The STEM INTERGRATION grant will use mathematics, Problem Base Learning (PBL), and technology as a foundational process to lift lagging scores and provide the Lawton/Ft. Sill military students future success in Mathematics. Professional Development for PBL and Technology for more than 600 teachers involved in teaching mathematics to almost 16,000 students will be paramount to the success of the grant. Lemon Grove SD CA $ 361, NS San Diego, NB Point Loma, NB Coronado, MCAS Miramar, MCRD San Diego, SPAWAR Full STEM AHEAD offers a comprehensive, research based approach to improving the school learning environment in order to increase the percentage of grade 5-8 students who are proficient or advanced in math and science. Project strategies combine teacher professional development and collaboration, evidence-based instructional approaches, parent engagement and technology integration. Long Beach SD MS $ 270, ,039 1, NCBC Gulfport, Keeler AFB Long Beach School District will implement STEM in grades 4-8 through professional development training for teachers and through rich experiences with robotics, engineering, aeronautics, rocketry, and architecture to build upon and prepare them for the Robotics and Engineering program at the high school level. Outcomes include: (1) raising state MCT2 test scores in grades 4-8; (2) preparing students with Common Core State Standards; and (3) providing our military students with a rich academic experience so that they are prepared for their next school. Madison County AL $ 945, ,030 2, Redstone Arsenal Preparing for Tomorrow will increase the percentage of students, grades 4-8, who are college-ready in math and science. The project will: (1) implement the National Math and Science Initiative to improve STEM programing; (2) provide teacher and administrator STEM professional development; and (3) improve technology to enhance teaching and learning. Manhattan - Ogden USD KS $ 1,739,045 1,244 2,779 4, Ft. Riley Manhattan-Ogden USD383 proposes a project entitled STEMing into College and Career Readiness to offer targeted support to military-related students in grades 5 8. In this grant we propose focused contextual learning environments designed to motivate students to explore and succeed in STEM coursework while simultaneously improving their college/career readiness. Moore County Schools NC $ 229, Ft Bragg Sandhills Farmlife school plans to implement a STEM program that includes integrating technology throughout the curriculum for kindergarteners through 5th graders. This will include job-embedded professional development training on technology integration and STEM inquiry-based teaching and learning. This program will promote student achievement while also promoting college and career readiness. Morongo Unified SD CA $ 940, , Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) The proposed initiative is predicated on the work, findings, and evolving model of the previous two DoDEA-funded grants to enhance student academics, to create more rigorous curricula for college-readiness, and to monitor student performance data to leverage proactive interventions.

5 Prince William Co PS VA $ 570, ,793 2, Quantico Marine Base, Ft Belvoir, and Pentagon This project will provide support for military-connected students and parents to enhance their connectedness to the school and community. This project is designed with a hands-on direct services approach. The goal is to provide a trained transition specialist and introduce the use of technology in addressing emotional support to students. Randolph Field ISD TX $ 1,498,500 1, , JB San Antonio The Military-Connected Academic and Support Programs grant will further efforts in advanced academic achievement for military students through professional development and technology integration within an integrated STEM focus. Advanced academic achievement outcomes for students will be ensured through focused strategies related to professional development in the areas of assessment, academic rigor and relevance, college and career readiness, and the effective integration of innovative classroom technologies. San Diego USD CA $ 2,499,140 2,246 1,038 3, NS San Diego, NB Point Loma, NB Coronado, MCAS Miramar, MCRD San Diego, SPAWAR Operation Thrive and Learn (OTL) Project will serve five elementary schools by: (1) Increasing K-5 students' ability to make healthy food choices; and (2) Increasing K-5 students' achievement in English/Language Arts. Project strategies combine teacher professional development, nutrition and health education, academic tutoring, and integration of technology. Santee SD CA $ 405, , NS San Diego, NB Point Loma, NB Coronado, MCAS Miramar, MCRD San Diego, SPAWAR Santee Empowerment Project goals are to: (1) decrease discipline referrals; (2) increase parent participation in school programs; and (3) increase students and parents feelings of connectedness to school through training, counseling and increasing participation opportunities and resources for families. Sierra Sands USD CA $ 1,900,000 2,071 2,952 5, Naval Air Ware Center- China Lake Embracing STEM, the project focuses on improving math achievement for military connected youth in grades 5, 7, and Algebra. With implementation of Common Core State Standards. Professional development and technology coaching will be intertwined to increase digital literacy of both teacher and student so that technology is infused into math and science instruction, through problem solving and real-world application. Essential technology skills will be identified for teachers and students. Coaches will train and performance task common assessments used to monitor student progress. Concurrently, technology equipment will be purchased for student use in math and science in order to facilitate the successful implementation of this effort and equip the students with 21st century skills. Sparta Area SD WI $ 125, Fort McCoy Project will strengthen teacher content knowledge and pedagogy in mathematics and science by showing teachers how to use an inquiry-based, interdisciplinary approach to make STEM subjects relevant for students. Other areas addressed include Common Core Mathematics Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.

6 Socorro ISD TX $ 2,500,000 3,096 11,173 14, Ft Bliss Project SMART aims to ensure that military-connected students are college and career ready and that students along with their families are successfully engaged during SISD school enrollment. Student academic experiences will be enhanced through the use of hands-on, project based learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Teachers will have opportunities to engage in focused content-knowledge professional development and also have training on project-based learning that engages students and complements various learning styles. The SISD community will also learn of other cultures and the military traditions as native-born El Pasoans share their culture and experiences. Varied opportunities for learning will be given to military parents to fully understand the complexities of the state s educational requirements and the support programs in place to help their children. Military parents will also have the opportunities to engage in volunteer activities and assist schools in meeting the challenges of providing a well-rounded education for all students Sumter SD SC $ 945, ,194 1, Shaw AFB, McEntire ANGB Sumter School District s Patriot Power in Sumter, SC, will provide academic and social/emotional support to military connected students of Shaw Air Force Base, home to headquarters of the Air Force's largest combat F-16 wing, Headquarters Ninth Air Force, U.S. Air Forces Central, Third Army, and U.S. Army Central. Tomah Area SD WI $ 615, ,339 1, Ft MCCoy, Camp Williams, Volk Field The purpose of this grant is to increase student achievement through the use of blended instruction, combining online and face-to-face instruction in the areas of foreign language and math. The program extends access in these areas to more than 1500 students in grades Virginia Beach PS VA $ 2,500,000 2,307 4,101 6, Oceana Naval AB, Dam Neck Naval Annex, rfolk Naval Station, Camp Pendleton, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek/Ft Story, and Medical Center Portsmouth (operated by the Navy) This grant includes professional development, including a certification from Old Dominion University designed to directly support the needs of military affiliated youth and the high effective Military Education Coalitions Parent to Parent community outreach program. The second component of this application details a comprehensive K-12 STEM program designed by the STEM Education Alliance at the College of William and Mary to increase math performance and preparedness for students in STEM related careers through teacher training, the design of specialized curriculum, and a highly engaging summer STEM camp for teachers and students. Extensive resources and systemic improvements are included to build a sustainable program at each targeted school. Yelm Community Schools WA $ 675, ,888 2, Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) Through the significant addition of technology to aid student learning, YCS's goals are to increase the percentage of students who successfully complete Algebra I by the end of 10th grade, and to increase mathematics achievement in 7th and 8th grades. Increasing student readiness for algebra significantly impacts students as they prepare to meet rigorous high school graduation requirements, including 3 years of math (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II or equivalent) and passing Washington State's End of Course Exam for Algebra I.

7 Yuma ESD AZ $ 270, MCAS Yuma, APG Yuma Otondo Elementary School will increase science achievement in grades three and four through: (1) extensive professional development; (2) a teacher cadre to model interdisciplinary lessons; (3) updated science-based informational text, Engineering is Elementary; and (4) technology-based scientific inquiry for students. A half-time counselor will serve the unique needs of active-duty military dependent students dealing with deployment, reintegration, transition and war-time stress issues, provide professional development to other school staff and provide military family engagement activities.
