2 About The Master s programme aims to familiarize students with recent investigations in the field of radiation-matter interaction carried out in Europe and the United States. It will allow students to participate in cutting-edge research with worldlevel instruments such as free electron lasers, high-power lasers in the optical range, a thermonuclear facility, and a facility for the generation of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses.

3 Key Advantages The Master s programme will allow students to learn about a wide range of latest investigations into the basics of radiationmatter interaction and its various practical applications. The programme includes courses on the interaction of radiation with matter in different phase states, namely: In the field of Plasma Physics: Applications in modern plasma installations: future thermonuclear reactor ITER, powerful laser facilities (radiative power loss, plasma diagnostics) In the field of Solid State Physics: transition from the solid to the plasma state of matter under the influence of powerful coherent radiation of free electron lasers (FEL); formation of a new extreme state of matter warm dense matter ; applications of FEL radiation in the investigation of complex biological molecule structures; principles of Auger measurements of solid surface structure. In the field of Cluster and Nanostructures research: Principles of nano-optics for nanostructure investigations, including in biological objects; applications of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses for nanostructure research; the probability of absorption and excitation of nanostructures by ultrashort pulses Opportunities to plan, carry out, and analyze data resulting from experiments on modern physical installations

4 Teaching Methods The Programme is based on lectures and seminars by leading international experts in radiation physics processes involved in experiments with worldleading Mega-installations. Opportunities to visit laboratories at the Kurchatov Institute National Research Centre that research the effects of radiation for a future thermonuclear reactor (ITER) project.
