Glass There are five types of glazed panels: Hi Lite, Full Lite, Full Lite to Door Height, Window Lite and Multiple Glass. You will have to specify the types and locations of glazed panels. Doors Remember, there are three types of TrendWall doors and a variety of hardware options (unless specified otherwise, doors come standard with the ADA compliant lever latch). In addition, our doors feature glass and louver options. You must specify the types and location of the doors needed, and hardware options (such as lock sets or ADA lock). Customers also can use their own doors. An Exceptional Closets TrendWall enables you to create closets where you need them in your office environment. You will need to indicate the number and locations of Trendoor Closets required. Wall-hung components TrendWall can accommodate Choices2 and Contrada systems components, as well as components by other manufacturers. If wall-hung components will be used, Trendway needs to know the type and manufacturer of components and where the components will be located. Modular electrical systems A TrendWall office handles all communications and power cabling behind the scenes. Cutaways show TrendWall s ability to vertically and horizontally manage modular and hardwire electrical. Whichever type of electrical system you use, it will run through panel bases and pilasters to provide power access without being visible or under foot. There s no need to stretch cords from wall to desk; no more searching for outlets. 6 TrendWall Components There are eight basic components to a TrendWall installation: panels, doors, ceiling crowns, floor plates, panel connectors, modular electrical components, pilasters and bases. The two main TrendWall components are: Panels. TrendWall offers four types of panels: solid; glazed (Hi-Lite, Full Lite, Full Lite to Door Height, Window Lite and Multiple Glass); curved (to provide curves at 90-degree corners) and filler (placed at the end of a panel run that meets a fixed wall to compensate for uneven wall conditions or to interface with irregular shapes). Panels are fabric or vinyl clad 3 8" gypsum surface, available in a variety of fabrics, plus smooth or textured vinyls and COM (customer s own material). Panels can be specified with vinyl on one side and fabric on the other, an application that would be suitable, for instance, for an executive office that shares a wall with warehouse operations. Metal surfaces are finished with powder-coated epoxy. Painted surfaces are available in a variety of trim colors. For fabric and color options, ask your Trendway rep for the Surface Materials Color Legend. Panels have rolled-form metal steel frames: 18-gauge top and bottom rails; 19-gauge side rails; 22-gauge horizontal intermediate interior rails and a 4-pound density therma-fiber mineral wool core. To compensate for irregularities in a floor or ceiling, panels have a base that provides for adjustments 3 4" up and/or down. Panels are available in any height from 7' 2" to 12' and in any width from 6" to 4'. Unless the customer requests specific widths, the most cost-efficient is the 4'-wide panel. Ceiling filler panels can add 1' to 4' to a panel height. Ceiling filler blocks can add an additional 1" to 12" to a panel height. Each model complies with ADA door clearance requirements and comes standard equipped with an ADA compliant lever latch. They re vinyl faced, made of flush hollow core and solid core wood construction, are pre-hung in frames and include a steel jamb and transoms. Doors are non-reversible and come in standard vinyl and trim colors. Single doors are 3' wide by 6' 8" or 7' high by 1 3 4" thick. They must be specified left-hand or right-hand swing, and can be specified with or without windows and louvers. With double doors, one door is active and the other is inactive and held closed by a latch. Unlocking the latch allows both doors to open, providing a 6'-wide entrance. Bi-fold doors are double doors hinged in the middle to fold out of the way as they open. Used primarily with cloak rooms or storage closets. Other basic TrendWall components include: Ceiling Crowns. U-shaped ceiling channels hold each TrendWall panel in place. They re made of 18-gauge roll-formed steel. Floor Plates. These 20-gauge roll-formed steel channels are used to align and attach the base of a TrendWall panel to the floor. Panel Connectors. These connectors make straight and corner panel connections. They re 11-gauge steel. Extended and half-extended connectors are used with hang-on furniture. Electrical. Electrical conduit can be routed through the horizontal base of TrendWall panels. It can also run up or down through the vertical connections between panels. Electrical outlets and switches are mounted in junction boxes to the conduit. Refer to the TrendWall Planning and Specification Guide for more details. Power Module TrendWall Harness Pilasters. Finished strips designed Vinyl Base to snap into place Corner Pilaster between panels conceal Floor Plate panel connectors and wiring. They come in the same height as panels and are available with optional punchouts for switches and duplex receptacles (unless otherwise specified, switches are located 45" up from the floor to the centerline; receptacle outlets are 14" and 32" from the floor). Bases. Like pilasters, bases are used to finish the look of a TrendWall office. Made of extruded vinyl, bases finish the bottom of the TrendWall panel. Find your TrendWall rep at 6

7 Guide Specifications PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 SUMMARY A. This specification defines the TrendWall floor-to-ceiling panel system which is designed to provide enclosed office spaces in an open plan environment and the ability to modify or reconfigure office spaces to meet changing office requirements. The system shall consist of connecting structural panels with provisions for mounting furniture systems components and be fully integrateable and compatible with open plan office systems REFERENCES A. The specified system shall be for interior wall application, fully relocatable and non-progressive. The system shall consist of two major component sections: (1) Fully-assembled Panels include solid (fabric or vinyl covered), glazed or curved; and (2) Pre-hung Doors in frames include single, double or bi-fold options. The system s six other basic components shall be the Ceiling Crowns, Floor Plates, Connectors, Electrical, Pilasters and Bases. B. Design and Performance Requirements: 1. Fire Protection - The system s solid panel component shall meet fire protection requirements defined by NFPA 101 Life Safety Code - Class A, GSA, ULC and CGSB. 2. Load-Bearing - The system s solid panel unit shall meet ANSI/BIFMA mechanical strength load tests and UBC and ICBO ES requirements for transverse loads. 3. Acoustics - The system s solid panel unit shall produce a sound transmission classification rating of STC SUBMITTALS A. Upon receipt of customer s floor plan, including the needs of the office (hanging furniture components, etc.), Trendway shall create a computergenerated (CAD) floor plan of the desired TrendWall office for customer s approval. B. Upon approval of the TrendWall CAD drawing, the product shall be built to the exact approved specifications of the customer QUALITY ASSURANCE A. The specified TrendWall panel system shall be designed, developed, manufactured, inspected, tested, installed and serviced in accordance with ISO9001 Standards and the manufacturer shall be a registered ISO company. B. Sound Transmission: 1. Independent laboratory certification shall be available which certify that the standard solid TrendWall panels provide an STC rating of 36 in accordance with ASTM-E90-90 and E C. Fire Protection: 1. Independent laboratory certification shall be available which certify that the standard TrendWall fabric and vinyl covered panels meet the class A requirements of the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code with a flame spread maximum allowable of 25 and maximum smoke density allowable of Certification shall be available which verify that standard solid TrendWall fabric and vinyl covered panels meet GSA flame spread maximum requirements of 25 and smoke density maximum allowable of 50 per ASTM-E /TRE BuyLine Certification shall be available which verify that standard solid TrendWall panels with specific fabric and vinyl coverings meet ULC flame spread maximum requirements of 25 for office wall panel applications and 150 for corridor usage per CAN/ULC-S102-M88 in compliance with requirements of the National Building Code of Canada. 4. D. Structural: 1. Independent laboratory certification shall be available which certify that standard solid TrendWall panels meet load-bearing capacity for hanging components of not less than 7 pounds per lineal inch when tested in accordance with ANSI/BIFMA x Certification shall be available which verify that the TrendWall panel system meets City of Los Angeles, Department of Building and Safety, product approval in accordance with UBC and ICBO ES related regulations DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Packing, Shipping, Handling and Unloading: 1. TrendWall products shall be shipped uncrated, blanket wrapped whenever possible. If only cartoned shipments are acceptable, this information must be indicated on each purchase order and a carton charge will be added. 2. All orders shipped to any destination within the contiguous United States, shall be F.O.B. origin, freight prepaid and risk of loss or damage shall pass to Buyer upon delivery to carrier. Trendway shall determine the method and agency of transportation to be used. 3. Customer-directed or expedited shipments (Air Freight, Federal Express, etc.) shall be prepaid and billed at actual cost. 4. An order is defined as each purchase order issued with a single shipped to address without special marking or tagging. B. Acceptance at Site: 1. In the event that special F.O.B. destination terms are agreed to by Trendway or delivery is made on Trendway owned or leased equipment, customer or authorized representative is responsible for noting any freight damage or shortage on the freight bill of lading at time of delivery and must notify Trendway within five (5) days of delivery day of any such damage or shortage. 2. Assistance in a concealed damage claim on an F.O.B. destination shipment will be provided by Trendway only if the product has been immediately unpacked and both the carrier and Trendway have been promptly notified of resultant damage so the proper inspection can be made. C. Storage and Protection: 1. When shipment is delayed by the buyer, Trendway reserves the right to place the goods in storage at customer s risk and cost. 2. All terms and conditions of the sale including but not limited to invoicing and payment, will continue as if the product had been shipped to a Buyer specified destination; except that title remains with Trendway and that Trendway reserves the right to modify payment terms to assure recovery of any additional cost incurred PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS A. TrendWall movable floor-to-ceiling wall system is manufactured by Trendway Corporation, Holland, Michigan MATERIALS A. Framing: 1. TrendWall panels shall be fabric or vinyl clad, available in a wide variety of fabrics, plus smooth or textured vinyls and COM (customer s own material) and can be specified with vinyl on one side and fabric on the other. 2. Panels shall be 2 3 4" thick and have a 2 3 4" x minimum space between panels for electrical and communication mounting, and a 2 3 4" x 3" space in the base to provide for distribution of electrical and communication routing for continuous lay-in of wiring and cables. 3. Panels shall be available in any height from 7'2" to 12'. Ceiling filler panels shall add an additional 1' to 4' to a panel (the minimum ceiling filler panel is 1'). Ceiling filler blocks shall add an additional 1" to 12" to a panel height (cannot be used with a ceiling filler panel). 4. Panels shall be available in any width from 6" to 4'. 5. To compensate for irregularities in a floor or ceiling, panels shall have an adjustable base that provides for adjustments 3 4" up and/or down. 6. Ceiling crowns shall be 18-gauge roll-formed steel U-shaped channels that hold each TrendWall panel in place. 7. Floor plates shall be 20-gauge roll-formed steel channels used to align and attach base of panels to floor. 8. Panel connectors shall be 11-gauge steel and used to connect panels to one another. 9. Pilasters shall be finished strips of 22-gauge rolled-formed steel and/or.06 thick rigid PVC with snap in place design, in fabric or vinyl coverings and conceal the connectors and wiring between panels. Vinyl bases shall be provided to finish off the TrendWall panel system bottom area. B. Solid Panels-Regular: 1. Shall have rolled-formed steel frames with 18-gauge top and bottom rails, 19-gauge side rails, 22-gauge horizontal intermediate interior rails. 2. Shall be 4 pound density therma-fiber mineral wool core. 3. Shall be 3 8" gypsum face sheets. C. Glazed Panels: 1. Shall be insertable glass frames of 22-gauge steel vertical and horizontal rails, durometer vinyl glass retainers for 1 4" glass. Glass to be by others, safety glass is recommended. a. Optional Glazed Designs: - Hi Lite (glazed look through) - Full Lite (entire panel glazed) - Full Lite to Door Height (glazed up to height of top of door) - Window Lite (glazed from 42" from floor to top of door) - Multiple Glass D. Curved Panels: 1. Shall be wood framed with honeycomb core and 19-gauge steel side rails to provide 90 degree corners. Optional glazed designs also available. E. Filler Panels: 1. Construction shall be steel supported one end, 8 pound density styrofoam core and gypsum faces and design which allows for uneven adjacent fixed wall conditions or irregular shapes. F. Doors: 1. Three types of doors shall be available which comply with ADA door clearance and door handle hardware requirements: a. Standard Single Doors - 3' wide by 6' 8" or 7' high by 1 3 4" thick with or without windows. Standard door sections are a nominal 4'. b. Double Doors - provide a 6' wide entrance c. Bi-Fold Doors - for cloak rooms or storage closets G. Electrical: 1. The TrendWall panel system shall provide optional ways of accessing building power and provide electrical power where needed. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION/INSPECTION A. Before installing the TrendWall panel system, a re-inspection of the installation site shall be made by the contractor to re-verify vital information used to specify the initial product required, such as ceiling height, floor conditions and other physical characteristics that can affect an installation INSTALLATION A.
