2 Each month, ENMAX Energy Corporation customers receive a bill (also called an invoice or statement) outlining their costs for specific utilities over a billing period, which can range from 26 to 34 days long. Each customer has an account number that is printed at the top right hand corner on every page of their statement.

3 Sample ENMAX Energy Bill Page one of the statement has a summary of the previous month s balance and the balance for the current billing period. New charges are listed for electricity. Customers located in Calgary, Fort Macleod and Cardston will also have water, wastewater, drainage, and waste and recycling services in their summary. Customers who pay for natural gas through EasyMax by ENMAX Energy, will have costs for natural gas on their statement, as well as the amount of EasyMax Rewards redeemed, if they were used toward their last bill.

5 Beginning on page three, billing details on electricity are outlined. Customers in Calgary, Fort Macleod and Cardston will have details for water, wastewater and drainage, waste and recycling listed, as applicable. Billing details for natural gas, EasyMax Rewards and Greenmax, for customers who have selected these options through ENMAX Energy, are also found here.

6 The electricity portion of the statement includes consumption and the costs of making and moving electricity during a billing period. The energy charge, or consumption, is the amount of electricity used in a billing period in dollars per kilowatt-hour ($/kwh). One kwh equals watt bulbs being on for one hour.

7 Customer kwh usage is recorded each month by meter readers. The reading is recorded as A for an actual reading, or E for an estimate reading. An estimate reading occurs when a meter reader can t get a read from a meter due to access or other reasons. Rendering of the National Music Centre

8 Delivery, distribution and transmission charges pay for the cost of electricity transmission and distribution to customers, as well as maintenance of the electricity system. In Calgary, distribution charges go to ENMAX Power Corporation. Transmission charges collected by ENMAX Power are sent to the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) to cover transmission costs on behalf of all Alberta transmission facility owners, including ENMAX Power Corporation, EPCOR, Altalink and Fortis.

9 In addition to distribution and delivery charges, all Alberta electricity customers pay fees, and sometimes riders, for electricity. A rider is a temporary distribution credit or charge approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC). If applicable, the local access fee is collected on behalf of The City of Calgary to pay for ENMAX Power Corporation s ability to access municipal land for facilities such as substations. The Balancing Pool Allocation is the cost to support AESO operations.

10 Customers who pay for natural gas through EasyMax by ENMAX Energy will have a gas Energy Charge on their statement. The gas Energy Charge is expressed in dollars per gigajoule ($/GJ). A GJ measures the heat content of gas. GJ usage is recorded each month through meter reading.

11 As with electricity, there are delivery charges to cover the cost of building and maintaining the distribution system that delivers natural gas to consumers. All natural gas customers have these charges. Customers who pay for natural gas through EasyMax by ENMAX Energy will see these charges on their ENMAX Energy statement. These charges are flowed to ATCO as they are the AUC appointed provider for natural gas in Calgary. The Municipal Franchise Fee is collected on behalf of the municipality to pay for ATCO to access municipal land for their facilities.

12 Administrative fees cover items such as electricity and natural gas customer service, billing and operating costs, and collections. The administrative fee is the same for Regulated Rate Option (RRO) customers and customers of retailers. All utility companies in Alberta charge a regulator approved administration fee, however, some may integrate the charges in with other charges or costs. 13 Calgary, Fort Macleod and Cardston customer charges for water include two components: 1. A metered water charge is calculated based on customer consumption. The charge includes costs to draw water from the river, treat it and deliver it to homes and businesses. The charge is expressed in dollars per cubic metre ($/m3). One m3 equals 1,000 liters of water. 2. A water Basic Service Charge covers water meter costs and maintenance including meter reading and statements

14 Waste water, or sewer, charges cover the cost to dispose waste water from residences and businesses. This is a percentage calculation based on the amount of water that is used within a household. The drainage fee is a daily flat rate that is collected to help maintain the municipality s drainage system.

15 The City of Calgary provides blue cart recycling collection to single family households up to four units. This helps prevent recyclable materials from being disposed within The City s landfills. The cost is a daily flat rate used to recover the cost of collecting recycled materials. Rendering of the National Music Centre The waste management charge helps offset the costs of disposing and managing residential garbage at The City's three landfills. This charge is separate from the cost of residential garbage collection, which is covered through property taxes.

16 EasyMax customers who combine electricity and natural gas can receive up to $100 EasyMax Rewards dollars* over a one year period that can be applied toward ENMAX Energy bills monthly, or yearly. EasyMax customers statements have an EasyMax Rewards section at the end of their statement. This section reports the number of EasyMax Rewards available for use and details how to access them. *Some conditions apply. No cash value. Subject to the EasyMax Terms and Conditions. When you purchase gas and electricity together from ENMAX Energy, you will earn EasyMax Rewards Dollars accruing at the rate posted on enmax.com from time to time, which amount will be applied to your bill from ENMAX Energy at the frequency you request or toward other option(s) that will be available from time to time. If you have not chosen one of the available methods to apply your EasyMax Rewards Dollars, the EasyMax Rewards will be credited yearly on your EasyMax bill. If or when the EasyMax Rewards program is cancelled, you may receive less than 100 EasyMax Rewards Dollars that year.
