1 Registration Deadline for Correspondence Courses of Chung Hwa Correspondence School is March 15, 2015 About the School The Chung Hwa Correspondence School is a distance education provider established by the Overseas Community Affairs Council Republic of China (Taiwan). The school enrolls overseas compatriots to study traditional Chinese culture and Chinese language skills, and receive vocational training via ways of correspondence and online learning services. In its early stages, our school provided learning services via correspondence. In recent years, responding to the development of e-learning, our school has begun offering e-learning courses using multimedia and audio-visual technology, and set up the Chung Hwa Correspondence School E-learning website to provide high-quality online learning services. In 2013, we started providing online study on-demand services for various subjects, offering overseas compatriots more convenient learning channels. Registration 1. Enrollment through Correspondence: Fill out the enrollment form and mail or fax to our school by the application deadline (according to postmarked date). Please download the enrollment form from the above website, or pick it up at one of the Republic of China's Embassies, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative offices (TECO) abroad, or contact local Culture Centers of TECO, the local sponsor units of overseas Chinese student studying in Taiwan or our school's overseas alumni associations. 2 Courses explanation 1. Enrollment Targets: Our school mainly enrolls overseas compatriots who possess a high school diploma or equivalent while "Beginner and Intermediate Learning Program" requires basic Chinese speaking and writing capabilities, "Practical Chinese Program" requires a primary school diploma or equivalent. 2. Tuition: Our school does not charge any fees; students can download or view the course handouts and multimedia courseware on the "Chung Hwa Correspondence School E-learning website" for free; course handouts are sent to those who are taking correspondence courses for free. 3. Requirements: (1) Every person can simultaneously take four courses at most, the programs are not limited. For study on-demand online courses, after completing one course, another on-demand online course can be chosen; there is no limit on the total number of courses that can be selected. (2) After students are admitted, they may not change or transfer programs. Students who have failed to complete more than half of their courses in each of the past three years will not be admitted. (3) Students should submit all assignments before the deadline of each academic year. Students who have an average score of at least 60 will be granted a certificate of completion. 4. Methods of course taking: In principle, only on-line courses are offered to the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and correspondence handouts won't be sent out; for the remaining regions correspondence or Internet study can be chosen.
