Overall programme aims and learning outcomes Programme Aims The programme offers an integrated view of technology and innovation management. It focuses on the innovating organization and the practical problem-solving skills required for creative management practice and management research. Students will gain an integrated and critical knowledge of business and will gain formative expertise in the roles of managing processes, conducting analysis and engaging in decision-making. Programme learning outcomes The learning outcomes associated with the overall programme are as follows: Knowledge Breadth A systematic understanding of knowledge, at, or informed by, the forefront of a field of learning Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of technology and innovation management. Have a critical awareness of current technology and innovation management theory, and be able to evaluate theory in relation to its application to business practice. Understand the role of technology and innovation management in overall corporate decision-making, and be able to apply tools and techniques to enable effective decision-making at management level.

Programme structure This is a 30 ECTS programme with three taught modules of 5 ECTS each and a dissertation of 15 ECTS. Entry requirements Students must be graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma in Product Management with a minimum Merit Grade Lower Student assessment In accordance with the General Assessment Regulations Compensation may only apply to one module excluding the dissertation. Derogations, if any, sought from the General Assessment Regulations A student will be permitted to two attempts to pass each assessment. Briefing notes provided Extracts from the Handbook for Academic Quality Enhancement setting out procedures and other matters associated with the validation of programmes. Part 4 Findings and Recommendations The panel would like to commend the staff on their well thought out and comprehensive programme documentation and their enthusiasm for the programme. The Panel is pleased to recommend to Academic Council approval of the MSc in Information Technology Management and Innovation at level 9 within the National Framework of Qualifications, with the following recommendations: Recommendations Students who are supervised by an Egyptian supervisor should have an advisory supervisor based in Dublin. When students are supervised in Dublin a second supervisor(s) should be appointed in Cairo. Consider how industry can be involved in the selection of projects for the dissertation and the presentation of results. The panel notes the importance of the external examiner, examination board and 2 nd DIT readers for the dissertation to ensure the consistency of standards across delivery in Dublin and Cairo. The reading materials including on-line materials as listed in the module descriptors should be made available in both locations. Consideration could be given to making locally delivered seminars available on-line for all students. Consideration of how group work may be facilitated between students based in Cairo and Dublin. That a balance be achieved in the delivery of the programme in Cairo with involvement by DIT academic staff in conjunction with local staff who satisfy all requirements for teaching of
