This system is designed to enhance the security features of your existing original-equipment Keyless Entry System. This easy-to-use manual details the operating instructions and benefits of the Security System. 4 Features and Benefits of your Security System l l l l l Remote-Controlled Convenience. The Security System is controlled by your existing Keyless Entry transmitter. See your vehicle owner s manual for additional OEM transmitter information. l All Vehicle Doors are Protected. Opening either door protected by the security system immediately sounds the vehicle s horn and flashes the vehicle parking lights, warding off a would-be attacker or intruder. l Full Perimeter Protection. Any sharp impact to the vehicle s glass panels or body panels immediately sounds the vehicle s horn and flashes the vehicle parking lights, warding off a would-be attacker or intruder. l Warn-Away Protection. Any soft impact to the vehicle s glass panels or body panels immediately sounds 7 quick bursts from the vehicle s horn, warding off a would-be attacker or intruder. l LED Status Indicator. A flashing red warning light on the vehicle s instrument cluster warns potential intruders that your vehicle is fully protected. It also indicates if the security system was triggered in your absence. l Audible and Visual Verification. The vehicle s horn will beep softly and the parking lights will flash to indicate when the security system is armed or disarmed. l The vehicle starter is disabled whenever the system is armed. l Arming with Key. The security system can be armed by locking the doors with the driver s door key after you turn off the ignition and exit the vehicle. l Disarming with Key. In the event the transmitter is lost or inoperative, the security system can be disarmed by unlocking the driver s side door with the key. l A hidden Emergency Override Button disarms the security system in case the security system malfunctions. 2

5 Security System Components l l l l l l l l l l Your Original-Equipment Keyless Entry Transmitter The Keyless Entry transmitter that came with your vehicle controls the arming and disarming functions of the Security System. The system is armed when the doors are locked with the keyless entry transmitter. The system is disarmed when the driver s door is unlocked with the keyless entry transmitter. The Status Indicator The Status Indicator is a high-intensity red indicator on the vehicle instrument cluster area. This red light provides a visual indication of the alarm system s state of operation. Note the chart below: If the Status indicator is......then the Security System is Off Disarmed Flashing ( about once per second) Armed Flashing slowy (1 flash... 2 second pause...repeat) System was triggered in your absence - Shock Sensor Flashing 3 times (3 flash... 2 second pause..repeat) System was triggered in your absence - Doors The Emergency Override Button The Emergency Override Button is used in conjunction with the vehicle ignition key to disarm the security system in the event a malfunction occurs. This button is located behind the hood release lever at the right side of the hood release cable. (See Figure A). é FIGURE A 3

6 Security System Operation l l l l l l l l l l l Arming the Security System with the Keyless Entry Transmitter To arm the system, close all doors, then press the LOCK button on your remote transmitter. The horn will beep softly one time and the parking lights will flash one time to indicate the system has been armed. The red status indicator light on the instrument cluster will blink steadily, once per second. Press LOCK to Arm 4 Pre-Arm Mode If the horn beeps 3 times and the parking lights flash 3 times when the LOCK button is pressed, the system is in pre-arm mode. The system has detected that a door is not closed. Check to see that both vehicle doors are closed securely and that the vehicle dome light switch is off. Alternate Arming Method Arming the Security System with the door key After you exit your vehicle lock the doors using the driver s door key lock. The horn will beep softly one time and the parking lights will flash one time to indicate the system has been armed. Disarming the Security System To disarm the system, press the UNLOCK button on your remote transmitter, or unlock the driver s side door with the vehicle s key. The horn will beep softly 2 times and the parking lights will flash 2 times to indicate the system has been disarmed. If the horn honks and the parking lights flash 4 times, the system was triggered in your absence. Refer to the Trigger Identification section in this manual (page 5). Press UNLOCK to Disarm Emergency Override Procedure In the unlikely event that the security system cannot be disarmed or the vehicle does not start, the following procedure can be used to override the system. 1. Enter the vehicle (the horn may begin sounding). 2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. 3. Press the emergency override button. The system is now disarmed.

7 Security System Operation (cont.) l l l l l l l l l Starter Interrupt Starter Interrupt is an automatic feature of your security system. The starter is disabled any time the security system is armed, so the vehicle cannot be started even when using the key. When the Security System is Triggered The security system will trigger if one of the following events occurs during it s armed state: l Any protected door is opened. l The shock sensor detects impact to the vehicle. Once the alarm is triggered, the following events occur: l The alarm sounds the vehicle s horn for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds the system checks to see if all entrances are closed. If a vehicle entrance is left open, the alarm will sound for another 30 second period. l The parking lights will also flash during the alarm cycle. Trigger Identification If the horn sounds 4 times when disarming your security system, this indicates that the security system was triggered in your absence. To determine which protected zone triggered the security system, look at the red status indicator. Flash pattern Violated Zone 1 flash, pause...(repeat) Impact Sensor 3 flash, pause...(repeat) Door opened Special Instructions for Low Vehicle Battery Problems If you are attempting to start your vehicle when the battery is low, the alarm security system may disable the starter due to low operating voltage. To eliminate this problem, press and hold the Emergency Override button while turning the key (see page 4). Arm & Disarm Horn Chirps The security system can be programmed to arm and disarm silently, or with audible horn chirps. Turn the ignition key on and then off, then quickly press the override button 3 times. If you hear......this means 1 chirp you have turned audible chirps on 2 chirps you have turned audible chirps off 5
