1 STOCK MARKET PROJECT Congratulations! You have just received an inheritance of $10,000.00! You must invest your money into the stock market. You will need to do some research before you buy any shares of stock. You will track your stocks for 6 weeks, and at the end hopefully you have earned more money. Good luck and happy investing! STOCK LINGO TO KNOW Your goal when investing in the stock market is to make more $$. 1 Share of Stock means you have ownership into a company. Stock prices vary throughout the day every day. A Stock is an investment that can lose money. It s good to buy low and sell high. The NYSE is open M- F 9:30-4.
2 PROJECT GUIDELINES 1. Before you choose your stocks you need to research them. Visit the NYSE. On the top right of the page click on symbol lookup. Enter the name of the stock you re researching. Write the symbol of the stock. Click on the full name of the stock. This will take you to the company s stock page. 2. First look at the last trade price. Then look at the 52 week high and low price. Finally, look at the quarter graph. Complete the Company Summary Chart. 3. You have $10,000 to invest into 4-10 stocks. Based on the information you gathered decide which stocks you would like to buy shares of, and how many shares you want of each stock. Remember you can t exceed $10,000. You may buy as many shares of a stock as you want as long as you don t exceed $10, On Monday December 6 th you will purchase your stocks. It will be YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check the closing price every weekend. You will need to complete the Stock Market Data sheet every Monday and Friday.
