3 Connecticut Legal Services Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport ; Stamford, CT Connecticut Legal Services is a private, non-profit, civil law firm dedicated to helping low-income families and individuals obtain justice. The bulk of our work consists of providing civil law representation and counseling to thousands of low-income families and individuals each year. We help our clients use the law to meet basic life needs. The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport seeks to turn faith into action by enabling congregations and community partners to combine resources and expertise to provide programs that help people at risk meet their urgent needs. Three focus areas are children, poverty and crisis, and faith in action. Governor's Prevention Partnership - Connecticut Mentoring Partnership The Connecticut Mentoring Partnership seeks to increase the number of mentoring relationships and mentoring programs across the state and to assure the quality and safety of those programs. Services include provision of resources to schools, businesses and community groups throughout the state to develop and implement various types (school, community and faith-based) of mentoring programs in order to increase the number of youth who benefit from a mentoring relationship. Greater Bridgeport Area Continuum of Care (GBACOC) GBACOC is a community-based, long range plan that delivers a comprehensive and strategic program addressing homelessness. GBACOC addresses the needs of homeless persons in order to help them reach maximum self-sufficiency.

4 Greater Bridgeport Family Economic Security Coalition (GBFESC) GBFESC is a coalition of organizations working in support of financial services & education in Greater Bridgeport. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Green Team The Green Team trains and employs low-income area residents in brownfields revitalization, energy conservation, and weatherization deconstruction, reuse, and recycling Services include training and finding employment for students (2/3 placed in jobs), energy conservation projects for the towns of Monroe & Stratford and city of Bridgeport and weatherization of 125 Bridgeport-area homes. Groundwork Bridgeport Richard (Dick) Tiani Groundwork Bridgeport seeks to bring about the sustained regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment by empowering people, businesses and organizations to promote environmental, economic, and social well-being. Butterflies are Teachers program, Green Team, Our Folks program, Park City Sweep Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (HFHCFC) Robert Knebel - President & CEO (bknebel@habitatcfc.org Bridgeport, Ct HFHCFC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build simple, decent, safe and efficient houses in partnership with God s people in need. Health Promotions Center The Health Promotion Center (HPC) is a free-standing community nursing center based in Bridgeport that is part of the National Nursing Center Consortium. Through the HPC, students, faculty, and staff provide health education, screening, referral, and follow-up services to underserved populations by working with community organizations and agencies, as well as with individuals. Services focus primarily on lead poisoning prevention and cardiovascular risk reduction, also including topical areas such as nutrition, environmental health, asthma, exercise, violence prevention, parenting, and spiritual/emotional wellness. Homes for the Brave Joy Kiss, RN, CADC Homes for the Brave endeavors to provide motivated individuals with the support and skills training needed to be gainfully employed, contributing members of their community. Key service is a transitional living program available to male veterans and non-veterans who are homeless and struggle with psychiatric and/or substance abuse problems. Focus lies on individuals who demonstrate a motivation to live and work in the community. Interfaith Refugee Action Team - Elizabeth (IRATE) & First Friends Elizabeth, NJ IRATE & First Friends is a nonprofit organization that upholds the Temporary Sanctuary Community Alliance, volunteer visitors inherent humanity and dignity of all immigrants. We provide visitors for detainees through First Friends, direct action creation and non-legal assistance for immigrants held in detention and work for through IRATE advocates improved conditions. We advocate for the end of arbitrary, mass detention.

Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential and preparing them for the world of work. We use hands-on experiences to help young people understand the business of life. Latina A.R.M.Y. New Haven, CT Latina A.R.M.Y.'s mission is to celebrate and empower young Latinas by providing inspirational role models and introducing powerful life skills for personal excellence. Many of them lack positive role models and end up repeating negative cycles. We are working hard to help young, at-risk Latina girls succeed. We serve Bridgeport, New Haven, Norwalk, West Haven, and other cities throughout CT. Primary program is a two-part workshop series focused on key life skills to support and empower young Latina women. Lighthouse Program McGivney Community Center Mercy Learning Center The Lighthouse Program endeavors to provide a safe environment that compliments school-day learning and fosters intellectual, cultural, physical, social and emotional development of children by partnering with and supporting the efforts of family, school and community. Children, youth and adults will be provided with opportunities to become independent lifetime learners as well as innovative, creative, and productive citizens. The McGivney Center's mission is the education of youth in Bridgeport. We work to provide a safe, creative environment Programs include homework assistance, computer literacy, where youth can explore educational and recreational activities. Our music and arts & crafts sessions, and recreation goal is to nurture their intellectual, spiritual and physical growth so opportunities they can be successful in all of their endeavors. Mercy Learning Center enacts a positive response to the problem of illiteracy by providing basic literacy and life skills training to lowincome women using a holistic approach within a compassionate, supportive environment. Literacy and life-skills training for low-income women in the greater Bridgeport area Mighty Math Kids Club New Haven/Leon Sister City Project (NH/LSCP) Partnership for Strong Communities Pet Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Diane Randall ; New Haven, CT New Haven, CT Norwalk, CT The Mighty Math Kids Club is an after-school math program for students at schools in Bridgeport and New Haven in upper elementary After school programming grades. The math club encourages active participation of students, striving for deeper understandings of mathematical concepts, as well as enjoyment of the world of mathematics! NH/LSCP is a progressive, binational, grassroots organization that fosters a partnership between the communities of Greater New Haven, Connecticut and León, Nicaragua. Our mission is to promote social justice. The Partnership for Strong Communities coordinates strategic housing policy development & advocacy and promotes awareness of how housing opportunities affect the lives of Connecticut's residents and communities where they live. PAWS is a nonprofit shelter dedicated to rescuing homeless animals and placing them in loving homes.

6 Project Eye-to-Eye David Flink New York, NY Project Eye-to-Eye endeavors to develop a national coalition of mentoring programs for students labeled with a learning disability and to empower these individuals to celebrate their differences. Our program model is designed to build life skills for independence and Mentoring improve self-esteem through the power of role modeling. Prospect House RYASAP Robert Francis Save the Children Prospect House provides emergency shelter to thirty-two adults on a daily basis and comprehensive case management services, including assessment, transportation, life skills training, individual, group and Shelter, meals, medical services family work. Prospect House is also able to offer free medical services through a collaborative relationship with Southwest Community Health Center. RYASAP actively engages organizations, public officials and community leaders around issues that matter to all of us. With its innovative, vertically integrated construction system, St. Bernard Project is poised to serve as a model for disaster rebuilding and affordable housing. Thomas Merton Family Center - Catholic Charities of Fairfield County Thomas Merton Family Center believes that families will be called to their highest potentials in an environment in which their desire to become healthy is nurtured and their potential for positive change is encouraged. We serve families with preschool children who often come from the most difficult segment of the population in terms of needs. Offerings for preschool children include playgroups, free breakfast and lunch, staff attention and assessment, and access to on-site specialists in early childhood development.
