Students should be engaging a PPP project (including policy development, design, finance, construction, operation, management and etc.) as a staff of organizations illustrated below or contractors (consultant, suppliers, general or sub contractors, and NGO/NPO): International organizations and multilateral development banks (e.g. United Nations, World Bank, Asia Development Bank, Africa Development Bank etc.) Foreign government agencies Japan s government agencies such as Cabinet Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diplomatic missions, JICA, JBIC, and other organizations engaging overseas PPP projects (e.g. DBJ, JAPIC etc.) Other organizations engaging PPP projects outside of Japan 2. Students must complete one of prerequisites ( PPP Theory I or Global PPP VII: PPP Theory ), or holds an instructor consent to enroll. 3. Students must report their PPP activities periodically through a video conference system or an and seek advices from the instructor. Students can live outside of Japan to enroll this course. Enrolled in one specialization does not keep students from registering in the courses other than their specialization.
8 Guidance for registration 1. Students should follow admission guidance and advices of the main research advisor for elective courses. 2. Students must complete a minimum of 30 credits is required for graduation. 3. Students can register and complete the identically-named subjects (as well as identically-named subjects with different sub-numbers such as 12) more than twice and can earn credits every time. However, if necessary, instructor may limit registrations of students who have completed the subject before. 4. Students are recommended to register and complete PPP Theory I (Global PPP VII: PPP Theory for non-japanese speakers) and II are designed to provide basic knowledge of PPP. 5. Students must choose one main research advisor from the instructors listed in PPP research seminars Students should register to PPP research seminar instructed by their main research advisor unless they are advised by their main research advisor to take a subject which is scheduled at the same time of the PPP research seminar or other limited circumstances. 6. Students should elect one or two co-research advisor(s) with an advice of the main research advisor. Co-research advisor(s) should be elected from s, associate s or visiting s who teach at least one seminar or lecture in that academic year. 7. Students cannot register PPP research seminars 1-12, unless they elect the instructor as their main or co- research advisors. 8. Students should take PPP research seminar I for their first semester, then II, III and IV for second, third and fourth semester respectively. Students attend this master program longer than five semesters and have completed PPP research seminar I to IV should repeat PPP research seminar IV to seek advices from their main research advisors. 9. If necessary, students can change his/her main research advisor and/or co-research advisor(s) at the beginning of any semester. 10. All students must attend thesis presentation/review (interim and final), submit either a graduation thesis or a special research project (research paper) and pass the thesis defense (final examination) to be qualified for graduation. Formats must follow the table below. 11. When deemed necessary by the main research advisor, maximum of 10 credits can be earned from courses in other departments. Credits earned will be used to fulfill graduation requirements. However, credits from identically-named subjects can be
9 earned only once. 12. Students from other departments/courses cannot enroll in subjects offered in Course of Public/Private Partnership.
