5 Section 4 Explaining Spinning Babies to others Your Elevator Talk About Spinning Babies 1.) Imagine you are in a hospital elevator. You have 3 minutes with another birthworker who has never heard of Spinning Babies. She asks, What is Spinning Babies?! 2.) Now, imagine you are in an airport line for 3 minutes with a person who has never heard of Spinning Babies. He asks, What is Spinning Babies?! 3.) Your family member or mate asks, What will being a Spinning Babies Approved Trainer mean to our lives? How will this change your schedule? Will you be traveling? How often?
6 Section 5 Teaching Your Teaching Story; The story you teach What adult health education/birth education have you taught? Did/Do you teach parent groups, or Professional groups or both? You teach a birth class: Describe the points of contact in registration, welcome and follow up after the class. If you designed the class and taught it yourself, choose that one over a class you taught for another organization; hospital or school, etc. 3.) 7 4.) You are about to teach a birth class that you normally teach with power point (or similar slideshow). You find out there is no AV when you were expecting there to be a projector or DVD player for your presentation. In fact, there is no electricity, no wifi, and your smart phone battery just died. No one has internet. You are offline. Describe how you illustrate anatomical concepts without slides. 5.) You are teaching a class you have taught before. An hour into your day, you note that one of your participants is again giving her third opinion to correct another one of your statements. She is enjoying sharing her knowledge about birth with the class. You notice that this time, the other participants are showing signs they may be impatient or annoyed (eyes rolling, frowns, looking away). Explain how you handle or ignore the situation and why.

All answers and materials are complete and included in one How your application is reviewed The application process is not a simple reading of your forms. Review of the application, calling of references, and confirmation of skills are included. You will receive a written confirmation of acceptance or denial. An immediate response that your application arrived safely. My decision in approximately 45 days from your application arriving if your application is accepted, conditionally accepted or declined. Conditional acceptance may be given with a time line for tasks or conditions to be achieved, but missing items may mean denial, too. Acceptance means your next steps will include, Monthly online meetings with trainers Meeting the payment schedule which will then include Registration to the Trainer Training Gathering Fine tuning in biographical information and photo for website Please realize that submitting the application and attending the Trainer Training on September 20-29, 2016 doesn t guarantee approval. With good will on both parties, the confidence level is high. The application process infers that steps must be proven and ethics and standards upheld. Thank you for completing the application. 15 Application fee Your $250. non-refundable payment is due with application submission. The cost is deducted from your total cost of Spinning Babies Trainer approval process. In the event you are not approved this payment is not returned. Secure your check to your application, with a paper clip, for instance. Or send your payment with Paypal or international or domestic bank wire transfer. Cost of either cannot be deducted from payment, so add any additional fees (5% on Paypal). Submit your application at the same time as your payment. Apply for an extension in writing before due date. Limitations apply. Complete Approval Process for is $4,500 payable by Aug For the $250 application fee to be included towards your $4,500 payment you must complete the process of becoming an approved trainer for Spinning Babies (Maternity House Publishing, Inc.). The Trainer Training is in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota At this time, we expect to be staying at The Commons Hotel. You will have one room mate. Your room will be from Sept th, The Trainers Training is included. Flights and ground travel to St. Paul, MN are not included. Ground travel from the MSP airport is covered if you arrive between 6 am - 11 pm. Ground travel is not covered from 11 pm-6 am. Arriving between 11 pm-6 am requires the trainee to get and pay a taxi. University bus shuttle from our hotel to the Confluence is free and we will be riding back and forth from September while attending the Confluence. Training materials such as the manual and handouts are included in the curriculum. A list of clothing to match the weather, and other personal needs will be sent to you closer to the time of the training. As an independent contractor and self employed, approved trainer, Spinning Babies, Maternity House Publishing, Inc. nor Gail Tully provides you with materials to fulfill your self-employment. You will have to make your slideshow. Start early. A list will be provided to you of suggested teaching props.
16 Payment Schedule The 2016 Approval Process of $4,500 is payable in two or more payments: Application and application fee payment due by Dec. 1, Application fee of $ is a non-refundable payment. Please note, the application fee is an earned fee and is not refundable should you choose not to complete the application process or your application does not meet the requirements. The information to be submitted includes: This Application Form Digital portrait photograph Bio (300 words) Check for Payable online on the date you submit your application online to gail@spinningbabies.com. A special button will be provided on the Spinning Babies Website for you approximately two weeks before the due date. An will describe how to find and use this payment button. You will have a meeting scheduled on the phone or Skype with Gail Tully within 6 weeks of submitting your application and payment. Payment of $4,500, less $250 already paid, is due by August 1, 2016: $4,250 You may schedule a payment plan to help your success in meeting this cost. Gail will work with you on that. Completion is mandatory in August, There will be a $200 late fee and a risk of not being able to attend the Trainer Training if payment is not complete by August 31, Participation of 6 online meetings is required even during the payment period in If you have your application accepted, participation is expected.
17 Agreements upon submitting the application to Spinning Babies Applicants may not teach workshops or conference sessions based on fetal positioning and/or labor progress, with or without body balancing, alignment, optimal fetal positioning and similar content for the duration of the approval period. Spinning Babies Approved Trainers May Teach: 1) Group Spinning Babies Workshops of not more than 30 participants per class, and two sponsors. This maximum size of the class is required until reapproval and then may be the same or changed. Office fee of $17 dollar per participant or $ which ever is greater, per workshop is due no later than 1 week following the workshop. The fee covers A copy of the certification form for you to copy per participant, Online promotion of your workshop on Spinning Babies Website and Facebook, Administrative record keeping of the Class List, evaluations, and posttests of all participants on the group class list. Administrative support for the Trainer per year (record keeping and promotion of classes and communication with trainer and other tasks as deemed necessary by the office.) Membership and subscription services to each participant on the class list up to 2 additional names for non-registrant sponsors or hosts per class. The trainer will supply name, , address and phone for all. Other trainer support as developed in the office If the approved trainer does not have workshops equaling 200 dollars worth of participant fees to the office, an annual $200 fee will be charged for administrative fees for each calendar year in which the trainer doesn t teach during the 3 year approval period. Outstanding fees must be paid before approved status renewal. 2) Private Spinning Babies instruction will not be eligible for Continuing education unless it meets the requirements listed in #1., above. Spinning Babies doesn t limit the private class fee. 3) In a Medical Facility: If you choose to teach Spinning Babies Workshop in a hospital, doctor s office, midwife s office, clinic, birth center or any other health care facility, they may not require that an instructor alter the content of Spinning Babies objectives or the materials for any reason. 4) In an Educational Facility: If you choose to teach Spinning Babies Workshop in a school, college or any other educational program, curriculum, or facility, they may not incorporate Spinning Babies into their written curriculum or content. They may not alter the content of Spinning Babies objectives or the
18 materials for any reason. Neither the facility nor the trainer may charge or be paid through the facility for the Spinning Babies Workshop, content, material or name, except that the facility can pay the trainer to present the Spinning Babies Workshop at the educational facility as an independent workshop. A college may not advertise or charge fees for a Spinning Babies Workshop on their course catalogue or course listing, except as a independent class not of their school offerings. 5) Co-teaching with two approved trainers will assign one trainer as administrative workshop leader for purposes of office requirements, payments and follow-through. Non-approved trainers may not co-teach objective-based content. Non-approved co-teachers or co-trainers must be approved by Gail Tully before being billed on the workshop description or promotion and before addressing or lecturing participants, including bio, resume/ CV, reference and representation of teaching, and of attendance at a Spinning Babies Workshop. 6) The workshop must not be shorter or longer than 7 hours of active content. Workshops can be longer. Start and stop and lunch times are at the discretion of the trainer. Additional content, handouts, techniques must be pre-approved by the office. Time must be allowed for the current objectives. Additional tips, stories, handouts and techniques must be selected to support the existing objectives and content. 7.) Reduced fees for repeat participants are not allowed at this time. 8.) Alterations in written and publicized, posted, or ed descriptions of the workshop must be pre-approved by the office first. 9.) Alterations other than personal trainer contact information and bio are not allowed in the slide show without pre-approval from the office. 10.) Withdrawal of approval status may follow negligence or lack of regard in the above agreements. Public ing posting, writing, or dissemination of disrespectful representation of Spinning Babies, Gail Tully or her office, other Spinning Babies approved trainers, sponsors, hosts, or participants will risk immediate loss of approval status. 11.) Re approval renews your agreement with this list of agreements, the approved trainer practice guidelines and code of ethics. 12.) Changes, improvements, clarifications and additions may be added to this document in the spirit of the existing content. No costs will be added in for the first 3-year approval period of 2015 to Approve Applicants will then receive contracts and more information.
