2 Welcome to Data Restore from BT Data Restore is fully hosted by BT and is aimed at existing or new EMC customers who need secure and bullet-proof off-site replication using SRDF software. It offers unparalleled cover for your primary site, with the ability for rapid switchover from primary to secondary site operation if needed. Data Restore not only replicates your critical data but also features a full recovery server that s pre-configured with your appropriate operating system, applications and hardware facilities. Under normal operation, all transactions are processed at the primary site, while the secondary site remains in standby mode in readiness for complete loss of the primary site. Following a catastrophic loss of all or part of the primary site, Data Restore independently mounts the remote storage array and continues processing tasks. For web servers (subject to DNS redirection) the recovery server can also continue full hosting operations. Once the primary site is brought back into operation, it re-synchronises itself to match the secondary storage array in parallel to the live operation. This ensures that your primary site systems have the latest data restored immediately they come back online. With Data Restore, your data is stored in the same way as with Data Cover, using Business Continuance Volumes (BCVs) and it operates in synchronous and asynchronous modes to give real-time and near real-time replication of your data and applications. This means that your business continuity is seamlessly assured and your commercial viability protected. Fast Recovery: You can opt for recovery servers within our data centre to enable immediate restart, using the secured data, in the event of service failure at your site. Security: BT Ignite provides the remote SRDF compatible Symmetrix sub-system from EMC, securely housed in one of our data centres. Data Protection: Guaranteed duplicate point-in-time copy of Primary Site storage array held safely at geographically separate secondary Site Connectivity: Wide Area Network (WAN) links connecting to your existing facility can be provided and managed by BT. Real-time Management: Mirrored storage (Raid 1) volumes at the primary and secondary sites that can be dynamically resized.
