ReadmiTTED STUDENTS >> Former students who attended another institution after leaving UMKC should use this application or apply online. Submit all transcripts of college work taken since attending UMKC. >> Former students who did not attend another institution and who were not enrolled at UMKC in the semester before the term in which they want to enroll should complete a request to re-enroll. Visiting Students If you wish to take courses for personal enrichment or are a degree-seeking student at another institution and would like to take courses to transfer back to your home institution, complete the Visiting Student Application at go.umkc.edu/visiting. Visiting students are not eligible for financial aid. Special admission categories Provisional Admission Applicants who do not meet the standards for regular admission may be considered for provisional admission to UMKC. If admitted, students may be required to participate in an academic support program as a condition of their admission. Supporting documentation may be requested. GED High School Equivalency Students can apply for admission based on the General Educational Development or High School Equivalency tests. The GED or HiSET scores must be passing in each area. GED or HiSET applicants also must submit an ACT composite score of at least. Students not meeting these criteria may be considered for provisional admission (see above) or mature adult admission (see below). Mature Adult Students who graduated from high school more than five years prior and have fewer than transferable college credits may qualify for mature adult admission consideration. These students must submit high school transcripts or GED or HiSET, any college transcripts, ACT/SAT test results or an ACT test waiver. Students should contact the Office of Admissions to obtain the ACT test waiver petition if needed. Dual High School/University Enrollment High school students can be admitted in a special student category and take college courses concurrently with high school courses. Students must submit a special application for admission available at umkc.edu/apply/special.asp. Students are admitted based on academic standards that exceed those required for admission from high school. Admissions are limited and are subject to the space available in, and completion of prerequisites for, the desired course or courses. Home-Schooled Graduates Graduates of home-school programs are required to complete the 17-unit core college-preparatory curriculum (see page 4) and have a ACT or 1090 SAT score for regular admission to UMKC. Students not meeting these criteria may be considered for provisional admission. Students Graduating Early From High School High school students may be admitted before they graduate from high school if they have completed all the requirements for graduation from high school but will not receive a diploma until their class graduates. Eligibility for admission is determined by the procedures established for regular admission from high school. A high school counselor or principal must certify that all graduation requirements have been met. Students are admitted on an individual basis. The following information also is required: application for admission, high school transcript and letter of approval from a high school principal or counselor. 2

3 Freshman Admissions Criteria Admission to UMKC is determined by a combination of high school curriculum, class rank, and ACT/SAT scores. AUTOMATIC ADMISSION AUTOMATIC AUTOMATIC ADMISSION ADMISSION FOR MOST 2.0 ACADEMIC UNITS FOR MOST ACADEMIC FOR MOST UNITS ACADEMIC UNITS Missouri enhanced admission Missouri residents who graduate in the top 10 percent of their class and meet the 17- unit requirements (see page 4) are admissible regardless of ACT/SAT score. Those who graduate from a high school that does not rank students must have a 3.5 in the 17 core curriculum classes. TRANSFER CRITERIA UMKC values your previous college experience and strives to make the transition as easy as possible. Applicants with or more hours of transferable college-level coursework need an overall 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in all coursework attempted at previous institutions. UMKC may recalculate s as needed. Applicants must have official transcripts from each college or university attended sent to the Office of Admissions before their application can be considered. If a student does not have hours of transferable college-level coursework, admission is determined by including freshman admissions criteria. Some admissions decisions are made by the academic unit/department. Students who are not admissible to these programs but who meet minimum criteria for admission may be admitted to University College.
