2 RETREAT DAY FOR WOMEN AND MEN RELIGIOUS 2015 Consecrated Life: The Mysticism of Encounter In this season when we are celebrating the Year of Consecrated Life, religious men and women have been called by Pope Francis to celebrate and deepen the gift of this life as prophetically understood from the margins, in the mysticism of encounter and in the challenge of Eucharistic tenderness. This day will provide an opportunity to ponder these insights through reflection, prayer, silence and input. Come to the ocean; take time to renew the continuing call of consecrated life in the depths of our hearts and in the wonder of our lives. There is no cost to attend. Presenter: Diane Collesano SC has served in Secondary Education as a teacher/principal. With a profound interest in ecological theology, she pursued graduate studies in systematic theology. She currently teaches in the Theology Department of the College of St. Elizabeth offering courses in Spirituality, Christian Ethics and Ecology. Registration is required. 4 DAY OF REFLECTION 2015 The Joy of the Gospel in Light and Color: Praying with the One Who is Gazing at You and Smiling! Date: Saturday, March 28th, :00am - 3:30pm This day will introduce you to the rich symbolism within Icons. Icons teach us the joy of living our faith. Prayer together, personal reflection and sharing will be integrated throughout the day. Come, experience the prayer of gazing before an Icon and be drawn ever more deeply into God s love. Presenter: Nadine Haines is a Graduate of Seton Hall University - School of Law. She began learning to "write" Icons with Master Iconographer, Vladislav Andrejev, founder of the Prosopon School of Iconology, in She is a Catechist for St. Mary of the Lakes Parish in Medford, NJ, where she resides with her husband. Nadine is in formation and has received the Scapular of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. She is a certified retreat director and has conducted numerous retreats for women religious and laity. Currently she is serving on the Formation Team as vocation and novice director. Rita Woehlcke, SSJ, a Sister of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia, is the Director of the SSJ Associates in Mission. She offers spiritual direction, retreats, and programs for personal and ministerial growth. She is conversant in 12 Step Spirituality. In addition to masters degrees in literature and pastoral counseling, she holds a certificate in spiritual direction. 10 MORNING OF REFLECTION 2015 Blessed Miriam Teresa: Her Life, Spirituality and Miracles Date: Saturday, July 25, :00am -12Noon Sanctity in New Jersey? One of New Jersey s own was recently beatified by Pope Francis. Her life and message stressed the indwelling of the Holy Trinity in each person and the universal call to holiness. Teresa Demjanovich was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, in After attending Bayonne public schools, Teresa entered the College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey and graduated in In 1925, she entered the Sisters of Charity at Convent Station. After profession of vows as a Sister of Charity, Teresa died in Saint Elizabeth Hospital, New Jersey, in She was 26 years of age. Because of her saintly life, her spiritual writings and the favors received through her intercession with God, the Sisters of Charity petitioned Rome for permission to open her Cause for Beatification and Canonization. Miriam Teresa was beatified on October 4 th, 2014, in Sacred Heart Basilica, Newark, NJ. This day will offer the opportunity to learn about Sister Miriam Teresa s life and spirituality. We will be invited to grow in our own spiritual journey through opening ourselves more deeply to our baptismal call to holiness, and to dwell within the heart of the Trinity. 12 MORNING OF REFLECTION 2015 The Camino De Santiago Date: Saturday, September 19, :00am - 12Noon Bonnie Lynch had the privilege of walking the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. The concept of "pilgrim" had long intrigued and attracted her, so when the opportunity presented itself, she embraced it. The Camino embraced and changed her - and continues to do so. This multi-media presentation will focus on the opportunities and challenges Bonnie experienced when walking the Way of St. James, including: historical and religious significance of the pilgrim passport" and certificate, a typical day on the trail, and Mass at Cathedral of St. James in Santiago de Compostela on the Feast of St. James Presenter: Dr. Bonnie Lynch, a Seton Associate, has been a university professor, administrator, and strategic academic planning consultant at public and private colleges and universities. In 1992, Bonnie was named Professor of the Year in Higher Education by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education [CASE]. Bonnie volunteers at Trinity Episcopal Church soup kitchen in Bethlehem, PA. This is a privileged time and place to reflect with one another about one s life with God as it is lived out in daily life experiences. Sister Pat Dotzauer, SC is the Assistant Administrator/ Program Director of Maris Stella. She has served in education, religious formation, vocation and volunteer ministries. In 1998, Sr. Pat received her Master s in Religion from Fordham University, NY, with a concentration in Spirituality and Spiritual Direction. Call for more information. Payment will be received at the office in the Conference Center (Bayside) from 3pm-5pm. Supper is served at 5:30pm. DEPARTURE from Maris Stella: 11am on the closing day or otherwise noted in the program description. PLEASE NOTE: Linens will be provided; please bring your own towels. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Please note that not all retreats at Maris Stella are silent. The type of retreat is indicated in the title description. Overnight Accommodations: Holy Family and Saint Vincent s offer Chairlifts on the staircases to the bedroom floors. It is expected that people are physically able to use the Chairlift without assistance. There are a few houses with smaller staircases and bedrooms on the first floor.
