1 Discovery Miles terms and conditions What are Discovery Miles? Discovery Miles is an e-currency you earn for all qualifying transactions on your Discovery Card if you have activated the benefit. Only Discovery Card holders can earn Discovery Miles You must have a Discovery Card to earn Discovery Miles. As a Discovery Card holder, you do not automatically get Discovery Miles. You must activate the benefit and then pay the yearly linkage fee of R350. Paying for Discovery Miles Only You pay one yearly linkage fee for the Discovery Miles benefit for each Discovery Card account you hold, regardless of how many secondary cardholders there are on the account. We deduct the yearly fee from your Discovery Card account on the same date each year. You have to pay the yearly fee to earn Discovery Miles. Discovery Purple cardholders do not have to pay a separate yearly linkage fee for Discovery Miles. Earning Discovery Miles You earn Discovery Miles for purchases made using your Discovery Card, locally, internationally and online with the exceptions listed under Transactions that do not qualify for Discovery Miles.

2 Discovery Miles earning rates The rate at which you earn Discovery Miles depends on the option you choose: Discovery Card holders with Discovery Miles If you re on the Discovery Miles option, you can earn Discovery Miles at a rate of one Mile for every R15 spent. Discovery Card holders with Fast Miles If you re on the Fast Miles option, you can earn one Fast Mile for every R8 spent. The HealthyLiving Miles Multiplier benefit With the HealthyLiving Miles Multiplier benefit, you can multiply your Discovery Miles by up to 10 times if you shop at HealthyLiving partner stores and pay using your Discovery Card. Your Miles Multiplier, for both the Discovery Miles and Discovery Fast Miles benefit options, is based on your Vitality status. You can multiply your Discovery Miles at any of these HealthyLiving stores: Pick n Pay Clicks Dis-Chem Sportsmans Warehouse Totalsports Your multiplier is based on your Vitality status as follows: Vitality status Miles Multiplier Diamond X 10 Gold X 5 Silver X 3 Bronze X 2 Blue X 1 Monthly Miles earning limits apply, based on your Discovery Card type. Card type Miles limits a month Blue and Gold Platinum Any card with Fast Miles Note: You will earn HealthyLiving Miles at a standard rate of one Mile for every R15 spent on both the Discovery Miles and Fast Miles options. The HealthyLiving Miles qualifying spend is calculated using a cap of 20% of your total qualifying spend. This cap is applied at each HealthyLiving partner. The HealthyLiving Miles also contribute to the Miles cap determined by your card type.

3 If you get cash back on your Discovery Card If you earn cash back on your Discovery Card spend in a certain billing cycle, this will affect how you earn Discovery Miles. We will deduct your cash back from your qualifying spend in that billing cycle and calculate your Discovery Miles based on the remaining qualifying spend. Fast Miles For a higher yearly linkage fee of R2950, you can get Fast Miles. Fast Miles lets you increase your earning rate to one Mile for every R8 spent on your Discovery Card. Please refer to the section titled Discovery Card holders with Fast Miles for more information. Except for the points given in this section, all the rules in this document also apply to Fast Miles. Transactions that do not qualify for Discovery Miles You do not earn Miles for the following transactions using the Discovery Card: Cash withdrawals Traveller s cheque purchases Electronic fund transfers Budget facility transfers Gambling transactions Yearly Discovery Card fees and Discovery Miles linkage fees Debit orders Fuel or fuel-related transactions on the DiscoveryMotor Card Note: If you use your Discovery Card to pay for your fuel, your transactions will go through as a normal credit card transaction and add up as a qualifying spend. If you ve activated the Discovery Miles benefit, you will also get Discovery Miles for the purchase. Discovery Miles benefits and rewards The rewards you can get when you activate Discovery Miles: Shop through discovery/mall an online portal with all your favourite products and e-tailers. Pay or part pay for your local flights with Vitality travel partners like kulula.com and British Airways. Convert your Discovery Miles to Avios or Voyager Miles. Get free travel insurance. Increase your cash back with the Discovery Card travel partners, including World leisure Holidays, Royal Caribbean International and Contiki.

4 discovery/mall discovery/mall allows you to shop for popular products at leading e-tailers through an online portal. You can choose to pay with Discovery Miles or with your Discovery Card. Discovery Miles can be used as full or part payment for products from e-tailers. Discovery is not responsible for the product delivery or any other related queries to the product purchased. The e-tailer stays responsible for this. However, Discovery will be responsible for the administration of the Discovery Miles earned and redeemed. Aminimum Miles redemption is applicable on purchases. Please note: The cash back percentage is based on your Vitality Status and the number of years you have been on Vitality. The cash back is calculated using a cap of 20% of your total qualifying spend at each partner store up to a total maximum of R2 000 per month. You will get cash back on your Uber spend of up to R1 000 per month.

Step three Calculate the Base Miles qualifying spend by subtracting the HealthyLiving partner spend and the cash back awarded from the Total Qualifying spend; Total qualifying spend R Cash back awarded - R HealthyLiving partner spend -R Total R Divide the Base Miles qualifying spend by 15 (which is the normal Miles earning rate); R / 15 = 629 Miles therefore the total Discovery Miles earned = 4629 Discovery Miles. Fast Miles example Except for the earning rate used in step three the Base Miles qualifying spend calculation; all the calculations in the above example also apply to Fast Miles. To calculate the total Miles under the Fast Miles Option; Divide the Base Miles qualifying spend by 8 (which is the Fast Miles earning rate); R / 8 = 1178 Miles therefore the total Discovery Fast Miles earned = 5178 Fast Miles.

6 Refund policy Refunds of products purchased from e-tailers are governed by the e-tailers refund policy, which can be found on each e-tailer s website. Discovery Miles will be refunded once the instruction has been received from the e-tailer. The refund of payments will occur as follow: Full balance paid using your Discovery Miles. The refund will be made on your Discovery Miles and your balance will be adjusted with the refund value. This is applicable for single item or full basket value refunds. Balance paid using your Discovery Miles and your credit card The credit card payment will be refunded first, up until the original value processed on the credit card. (see example below) If the refund amount requested is more than the credit card payment made, the Discovery Miles balance will be refunded. If you used a combination of Discovery Miles accounts, the value used your own account will be refunded first and then the remaining amount divided equally between the remaining Discovery Miles accounts. Refund examples Justin bought four CDs from kalahari.com. He used his Discovery Miles, his wife s Discovery Miles and his sister s Discovery Miles and Discovery Card to buy the items. If Justin requests a refund from kalahari.com, the refund can have a few possible scenarios based on the refund amount requested: Refund A: Justin returned all four CDs to kalahari.com and therefore all the items in the basket. The funds spent on the Discovery Miles and credit card will be refunded in full. Refund B: Justin returned one CD to kalahari.com. The CD cost R65 and was less than what was spent on the credit card payment. The refund will be on the credit card only. Refund C: Justin returned two CDs. The two items combined cost R100. The credit card payment will be refunded and the Discovery Miles payment on his account will be refunded. Refund D: Justin returned three CDs. The three items combined cost R136. The credit card payment will be refunded, the Discovery Miles payment on his account will be refunded as well as the remainder of the refund divided between the two additional Discovery Miles accounts (in the case of decimal values, the amounts will be rounded up). 7 International travel insurance To qualify for international travel insurance, you must use your DiscoveryPlatinum Card to pay for your international travel tickets. If you re a Blue or Gold Discovery Card holder, you must have an active Discovery Miles benefit and also pay for your travel with your Discovery Card to qualify. Your Discovery Card account must be in good standing. All travellers, whose tickets were paid for with a qualifying Discovery Card, must belong to the principal accountholder s active Discovery Health or Life policy to be covered under the Discovery Card international travel insurance policy. This benefit is available for international travel only and will cover all tickets bought with a Discovery Card. Travel must start in South Africa and end in South Africa. Note: Secondary Discovery Card holders qualify according to the same criteria the primary cardholder is subject to. Discovery Card s international travel insurance is managed by Oojah and according to Oojah s terms and conditions. International travel insurance covers non-medical claims such as baggage loss or delay, personal accident, cancellation, travel delays, and personal liability. Please refer to for the latest information. The cover might change. World Leisure Holidays, Royal Caribbean International and Contiki Only you, as the cardholder, and additional cardholders that have access to Miles can use your Miles. Only Vitality members get the relative Vitality discounts. 10 cents You must spend at least Miles for each booking you make using your Discovery Card. The maximum value of Discovery Miles you can use is the total value of the booking minus any amount you receive as a Discovery Card cash back. This applies to the total cost of the booking for all the people on your Vitality policy. You must use your Discovery Card to pay for the travel bookings. kulula.com (through Vitality) You can use your Discovery Miles to pay for Vitality travel bookings with kulula.com Only Vitality members For kulula.com bookings, you can use your Miles to book for anyone on your Vitality policy. 10 cents You can use your Discovery Miles to pay the complete reduced kulula.com rate.

8 discovery/mall You can use your Discovery Miles to shop on through our online portal the discovery/mall discovery/mall Only you, as the cardholder, and additional cardholders that have access to Discovery Miles can use your Discovery Miles on discovery/mall. 10 cents There is a minimum requirement of Discovery Miles used for purchases at certain e-tailers through the discovery/mall. Avios You can convert your Discovery Miles into Avios Only cardholders who have an active BA Executive Club membership number. Only you, as the cardholder, and additional cardholders that have access to Discovery Miles can use your Discovery Miles. You can, however, block the additional cardholders from using your Discovery Miles by logging in to One Avios You can convert your Discovery Miles in the following ways: When you want to. This way, you must convert a minimum of Miles each time you convert. Automatically each month. This way, you can ask us to automatically convert a minimum of Miles each month. (You choose the exact amount as long as it is at least Miles a month.) If you do not reach the amount for conversion you have given to us, the shortfall rolls over to the next month. You can only convert Discovery Miles to Avios for your own use. It may take 72 hours to process the conversion. SAA Voyager Miles (through South African Airways) You can convert your Discovery Miles into SAA Voyager Miles Only cardholders who are SAA Voyager members. Only you, as the cardholder, and additional cardholders that have access to Discovery Miles can use your Discovery Miles. You can, however, block the additional cardholders from using your Discovery Miles by logging in to Discovery Miles equal 1 SAA Voyager Mile. You can convert your Discovery Miles in the following ways: When you want to. This way, you must convert a minimum of Discovery Miles each time you convert. Automatically each month. This way, you can ask us to automatically convert a minimum of Discovery Miles each month. (You choose the exact amount as long as it is at least Discovery Miles a month).

9 If you do not reach the amount for conversion you have given to us, the shortfall rolls over to the next month. Expiry of Discovery Miles Discovery Miles expire after five years from the date that you earned them. If you don t use your Discovery Miles before they expire, you will lose them. Closing of your Discovery Card account Please note that you should use your Discovery Miles before you close your Discovery Card account. You can spend your Discovery Miles on the various partners listed or convert them to Avios or Voyager Miles. Ending the benefit You may request cancellation of the Discovery Miles benefit, but it will only be effective from the end of the billing year. Ownership of and changes to Discovery Miles Discovery Miles are issued by Discovery Vitality (Pty) Limited who can, with prior notice: Decline, issue or withdraw Discovery Miles; Change these terms and conditions and how Discovery Miles operate; Change when you can and cannot earn points. We will give you notice before we do this. Discovery Card will notify cardholders with an activated Discovery Miles benefit, at least 20 business days in advance, if certain services will no longer be available for purchases with Discovery Miles. Transferring Discovery Miles You can transfer your Discovery Miles to any other cardholder on your Vitality policy by calling Discovery Miles may be refundable, depending on the rules of certain benefits. When it is not possible to refund Miles, we might refund you in cash instead.
