I have attended many camps before with my organization (Life Makers Egypt), but the fact is that this camp was one of the best camps in terms of commitment of time, good preparation, excellent organization, respect and appreciation, seriousness in work, entertainment & free time.i am very impressed with the idea of the camp and I hope it will be implemented in Egypt. I would like to do it, really.in the camp I met new friends from many countries and these friendships are great benefit for all of us. I will never forget a great leader Tania, this name taught me the principles of true leadership and respect for others and coexistence without problems or stress, as well as wisdom, objectivity, humility, high ethics and excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Finally I appreciate the great role of this camp in the development of children and their potential. Thank you so much for this great opportunity, I hope to participate on it once again... next year! 16 Name:Liu Yuqiao (the first boy from left side) Nationality: China Camp: ELC Hebei Guantao 2010 WHV the Great Wall 2012 ELC Jiangxi Fuzhou 2011 ELC Henan camp 2013 Hi, my name is Liu Yuqiao, but please call me John. I have participated in six summer camps since I was a student- camper in 2008 and 2009 in Beijing and I became a volunteer in 2010 when I was 14 years old. I took part in the camps in Hebei and Jiangxi during the following 2 years. In 2012, I joined the World Heritage camp in Beijing and in 2013, I participated in a workcamp and was chosen to be the Vice Team leader in the Henan camp. I gained a lot of experience during the camp. When I first joined the camp, I was completely amazed by the teachers performance. They piqued my interest in English, which encouraged me to begin learning English by myself. What's really important to me is that I have made many good friends. I am really glad to have been chosen as the Vice leader of the Henan camp this year. My responsibilities during the camp were almost the same as what James had undertaken in the past. I hope many future students will benefit from these camps as I did. these camps is because they help me to develop my interests and leadership skills, and provide me with great opportunities to share my ideas and learn from other people. 15 The reason I have kept joining

17 Basic requirements Language English is the official language of the Work Camps, thus all the volunteers are expected to be able to communicate in English. Visa and Transportation Volunteers have to pay for their own international flights, insurance and visa. For French people and some other countries, due to a new law about the Chinese visa ( ), F visa is not available anymore, if you have this kind of problem, please contact us to ensure a touristic visa. Punctuality Punctuality is a fundamental value during each camp, as a team work, volunteers should be on time. On campus, volunteers should arrive at least fifteen minutes before the beginning of each class in order to finish all the preparation work before the class. Tardiness As a rule of this program, Volunteers are not permitted to be late or to leave early. If an emergency arises before the classes or activities, Party B should contact the team leader as soon as possible. Feedback Meeting Besides the classes and activities, volunteers are required to be present in team feedback meetings and other preparation works, and provide suggestions. Other Requirements It is forbidden to discuss topics concerning politics, religion, sex and drugs. Smoking is not allowed in the classroom and in the office in order to avoid a negative influence on the teenagers. Please ask the teenagers not to eat during class time. Classrooms should be kept clean. Volunteers must make sure to leave desks and chairs organized and to erase the blackboard after each class. Additional Opportunities Volunteers with the excellent performance could apply an internship opportunity in Beijing, and they are also possible to be recommended to apply for the Washington Scholars Fellowship Program which is a volunteer opportunity in Washington DC in the USA. They will also be recommended to the Chinese Governmental Scholars Fellowship which is a learning opportunity in China s top universities. CSETC will write an appreciation letter for volunteers with excellent performance after each summer program and also deliver the certification letter from the prestigious Chinese governments. 16

18 Some Useful Information Basic information 1. And from previous experiences, some Chinese students are very shy, so you need to use some Ice Breakers to involve them. 2. To exchange your money, you will need to show your passport and give your signature, after what you will receive your money and a receipt that you have to keep in case you will need it for tax clearance upon your departure. How you should bring? Knowing that the average salary in china is around 550 Euros, we advise you to bring Euros for one month.
