How to prepare the patients for anesthesia and surgery / intervention 2. Choose the appropriate anesthetic techniques and provide safe steps of anesthesia 3. Provide airway management for anesthesia in elective and emergency situations 4. Provide standard care for patients in post anesthetic care unit/recovery room 5. Provide safe anesthesia under supervision of anesthesiologists 6. Increase appropriate manpower in anesthesia personnel for other countries Place of training: Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand Prerequisite of applicant: 1. Age below 35 years, except special recommendation from authority of sender country 2. Able to communicate in academic English in all four parts speaking, reading, listening and writing 3. Must hold registered nurse certificate / diploma from sender country 4. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in Nurse or Anesthesiology 5. Regulation: 1. The program term starts would expect from 1 st August to 31 st July. 2. The trainee promises to follow all trainng regulations and promises to work hard to gain the knowledge and expertise, including work out-of-office hours. 3. If the trainee does not work hard or has severe unethical conduct, the training will be terminated judged by the training committee. 4. The trainee will complete all on-the-job record, log book and examination. The certificate will be granted to the trainee who finished the course and passes the examination. 5. During the training, 14-day vacation will be allowed under permission of the training committee. Sick leave must be accompanied by a physician certificate. 6. After the training finished, the trainee will go back to sender country to work in the sender hospital. Curriculum: 1. Class work teaching / learning (all conduct in English): a. The main subjects are anesthesia and anesthesia related subject: anatomy, physiology, pharmacology. b. There will be lectures, case discussion, skills lab and hand-on workshop. c. Academic activities such as interesting cases and case discussion will be assigned to present by trainees. 2. Practical teaching / leaning a. Roster schedule in anesthesia services both in operating room (OR) outside OR, acute pain service (APS), ICU and other departments involved in anesthesia practice etc. b. Trainee will rotate to work in various sites that the Department has services, such as neuroanesthesia, obstetric-gynecological anesthesia, orthopedic anesthesia, etc. c. Trainee will be taught about infection control, anesthetic equipment and machine. d. Trainee will do an on-call service 3
Program evaluation: The trainee must 1. Good behavior and pass the formative evaluation and at least 80% attendance of training program will be needed to take the final examination. 2. To pass the final evaluation, 50% of scores both in the written examination and the practice evaluation.
