Type notes on a page Use the Send to OneNote tool Place the insertion point below or to the right of the title, and type. A note container is created. Move the container by dragging it. To add a note on the page, tap or click and start typing. Notes Container You can take screen clippings, copy info from a webpage, and create Quick Notes. If Start with OneNote is checked, the Send to OneNote tool opens automatically. Send a note by using Windows logo key +SHIFT+N even when OneNote isn t running. Send to OneNote enables sending a static copy of a file Use new Quick Note Capture info using INSERT tab Quick Note is an electronic sticky note Quick Notes are stored in Unfiled Notes or Quick Notes section To pin a Quick Note, tap or click the VIEW tab, and then tap or click Always on Top OneNote recognizes links and formats them Spreadsheets added to OneNote can be edited by using Excel Double-click file attachment icon to open a file Audio and video recordings are directly linked to notes taken during recording 3
How to organize? To Reorder sections, pages, or notebooks Move a page to a different section Move a section to a different notebook Delete a section or page Do this Drag the section, page, or notebook to a new place within the section bar, page list, or notebook list. Drag the page tab and let the pointer rest on the destination section until the section opens, and then drop the page in the desired location within the pages in the new section. Drag the section tab and let the pointer rest on the notebook list. When the list opens, drag the section to the appropriate notebook. Right-click the section or page, and then tap or click Delete. Combine multiple sections 1. Open a notebook with at least two sections 2. Right-click Section tab, and tap or click New Section Group 3. Type a name for the section group, and press Enter Section groups 4. Add an existing section to the section group by dragging a section tab to the section group Combine multiple subpages Tag notes to categorize and prioritize 1. Tap or click Add Page. A new page is added at the bottom 2. Type a page title for the subpage, and then press Enter 3. Drag the page tab to the right 1. Select the text or other object you want to tag 2. Tap or click the HOME tab, and then in the Tags group, select a tag 4
Organize your view 1. Pin the notebook list to switch from one notebook to another 2. Tap or click the down arrow to the right of the title 3. Tap or click the Pin Notebook Pane to Side pushpin Search for text Enter search keywords in the Search box OneNote displays the results in a pop-up window below the Search box Tap or click an item in the results list to go to the page Tap or click the X button to close the search popup window. Search for tagged notes Tap or click the HOME tab, and then tap or click Find Tags In the Tags Summar y pane, a list of all the tagged notes is displayed Tap or click the entry in the list to go to a tagged note 5
Share a notebook in the cloud To share: 1. Open the notebook. 2. Tap or click FILE, and then tap or click Share. From OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint Online: 1. Navigate to the notebook to share 2. Click next to the notebook, and then tap or click Share in dialog box 3. Enter the name or email address to share with, and tap or click Share Use the history tag Use button Next Unread Mark as Read Recent Edits Find by Author Hide Authors Page Versions Notebook Recycle Bin To Move to the next unread section in the notebook. If the Next Unread button is not available, there are no new unread notes. Mark a section that you ve read (to narrow down unread content). Specify a time period to review recent edits. Search for changes by a specific author. Display or hide author initials. View a previous version of a page (select the page tab for a page to see a list of versions). Restore a deleted page or section from a shared notebook. Take notes in online meeting 1. In the Outlook calendar, open the meeting 2. Tap or click Meeting Notes 3. To share meeting notes, in the Meeting Notes dialog box, tap or click Share notes with the meeting 4. To take private notes, tap or click Take notes on your own 5. In the Choose Notes to Share with Meeting dialog box, pick a section and page for new notes, and tap or click OK 6
Take notes in Lync online meeting 1. Tap or click Meet Now to start an online meeting 2. Tap or click the Manage Presentable Content icon 3. In the pop-up window, tap or click the ONENOTE tab, and then tap or click My Notes 4.
