Healing Bible Study Lesson 1: Jesus Saves We are going to start off this Healing Bible Study Course with something that may seem a bit basic. Jesus Saves! I know. This has almost become a cliché. In fact, for many of us, we hear the word saved so often, that it has lost its true meaning. Does it merely mean that your sins have been forgiven? Thankfully, it means so much more! The original Hebrew word used to describe what Jesus went to the cross to do for you meant much more than just keeping you out of hell. He went to save (you), that is, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): - heal, preserve, (make) whole (Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries). Could you use any of the things in that list? Um, Excuse me. I ll take some wholeness please. With a side of healing and a little divine protection. Thanks! Could it really be that easy? Then Why Hasn't God Healed Me Yet? Like many Christians in need of a healing touch from the Lord, I thought for so long that if I were somehow stronger or a better Christian, I would have been restored. I must not have enough faith. I would think, as I sat in self-condemnation. If I had more faith, God would have rescued me by now. Have you ever felt that way? Well, I have good news for you. Faith is not a currency that you can accumulate to buy things from God. Like your salvation, your healing can not be bought, or even earned by how pious or full of faith you can be.

Once you have prayed and asked God to heal you, your restoration process has begun. Now, even more than faith, you need to ask God for patience. We will discuss that in a future healing bible study lesson. If you listen, the Holy Spirit will guide you through your healing journey. Depending on the type of healing you require, He may lead you to certain places or even have other mature Christians share a word with you. But, He is ordering your steps - so listen closely. Healing is a free gift available to all Christians. God is interested in every aspect of your life. Your pain touches Him and His compassion is kindled towards you. That is why He sent Jesus to be the answer to all of your problems-to save you. Sometimes it may not feel like God feels what you are going though. But, He does. He is not only hurt by your pains and distresses, but He is moved to action. When He (Jesus)went ashore and saw a great throng of people, He had compassion (pity and deep sympathy) for them and cured their sick.-matt 14:14 (Amplified) If you have not yet prayed for your healing, take the time to do it now. In your own words, pray and ask God to restore you and make you whole. Ask the Holy Spirit to be your counselor and your comforter as you travel your healing journey, and to give you wisdom. In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen. Healing Bible Study Lesson 1: Jesus Saves Reflection Questions 1. Have you ever doubted that God would heal you? Why or why not?

2. Did you know all that the word saved really meant? Are there parts of being saved that you have not yet received? If so which ones? Understanding that Jesus not only went to the cross for your salvation, but your healing is a vital step in your restoration. The next step will take place in Lesson 2 of your healing Bible Study. You must establish in your heart that Jesus is still healing today.

Is Jesus Healing Today? Healing Bible Study Lesson 2 For some reason, the idea of Jesus healing today has become controversial. There are churches and ministries out there who have begun to teach the children of God that our Heavenly Father actually makes us sick. They say that He has given you cancer or depression to teach you something. That He allowed that abuse to take place to somehow make you a better Christian. Imagine if you were accused of causing this kind of pain and turmoil in the lives of your own children! And yet, in the Bible, we never read about God making His own people sick. We only learn about Him healing them. Could God Be the Cause and Cure for Your Pain? There was an instance when people thought that Jesus was casting out demons through the help of a demon prince (Matt 12, Luke 11). Jesus explained that this would be impossible because the one who put the demon in would not also be the one who casts it out. Any kingdom that is divided against itself is being brought to desolation and laid waste (Matt. 12:25-Amplified). Wouldn t this also apply in the area of Jesus healing the sick? Just a quick look through the book of Matthew proves that Jesus was definitely in the physical and emotional healing business. Was He going around taking away sickness and turmoil if He indeed was the author of them? That would mean that the Kingdom of heaven is divided against itself and therefore doomed. Of course, this is not the case. God is not going around giving small children leukemia.

Jesus tell you: The thief s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. - John 10:10 (NLT) That rich and satisfying life is God s will for you. He is not the one who wants you hurting physically or emotionally. It is your enemy who is the thief. Satan wants to steal your peace. He wants to steal your joy. He wants to steal your vitality. He wants to steal your life. But God wants you whole! He says: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) Isn t that exciting! God actually has plans for your life And they are good! He does not want you sick, and He did not make you sick. He wants you well, and He is making you well. Healing Bible Study Lesson 2: Is Jesus Healing Today? Reflection Questions 1. Have you ever been taught that God causes sickness and pain in order to teach you something? Do you believe that? Why or why not? 2. What benefit do you think that Satan gets from trying to keep you from your healing? Are there things that you would like to be able to do for God but can not? How is your pain benefiting your enemy's kingdom?

I hope that you truly believe now that Jesus can and will heal you. But, there is more to receiving your healing than just believing. You will have to fight the enemy for your wholeness. Notes
